From the campaign trail in a place worthy of its newfound early state status, Mississippi…
The stench of fascism under Trump lingers everywhere, and the many warning signs demand sufficient magnification as America confronts the biggest human rights crisis of our time, a homegrown terrorism driven by white supremacy and steered by a sick maniac failed President, planting seeds of hate, flooding weak minds with hostility against minority groups - Hispanic, black, Muslim, LGBT.
Our America is not safe.
Even while Congress pushes for classification of domestic terrorism as a federal crime, gun safety bills lay dead on #MoscowMitch's desk, any effort to protect our election from enemy hostility, buried in a shallow grave.
Enemies foreign and domestic, empowered by a so-called American President.
-Detention camps that leave nursing babies motherless.
-Kids in cages.
-ICE raids that terrorize like wannabe Gestapo.
-Gunmen on rampages triggered by hate speech and hollow cries for 'white power'.
-Nuremberg rallies where the President calls immigration an 'invasion' of 'criminals' and 'rapists', an 'infestation'.
-Brainwashed followers who scream for bloodshed, "Shoot them!"
*Trump is the first national security threat as a President in modern times*
He mixes a toxic goop of guns, anger, fear, violence and hate with white supremacist conspiracies.
Fascist sludge. The entire Republican party is stuck.
Trump is a racist who targets minorities, exposes, endangers them, pandering to his white base for votes as he reigns terror on peaceful immigrant communities working to provide for their families. Promotion of white supremacy is their key to holding power in the Executive and the Senate, the poisoning secret serum of the National Rifle Association.
Guns are in the wrong hands - mentally ill, terrorists, abusers, criminals.
Beto's campaign urges us to stand up for the victims of violence. He's delivering their story - our story as we confront the growing threat of fascism, a collective of compassion staring down an ill, desperate, failed President, constantly and perpetually starved of attention and power.
Beto's visit to Mississippi in the wake of the ICE raids that reigned terror on more than 600 Hispanics, alerts us to the destruction that we face. He puts a face on the human beings suffering from Trump atrocities.
This cruelty, this terror felt by this community of hardworking immigrants, is the policy of Donald Trump. His hope is that he can inflict enough suffering for these immigrants to get them to leave, or perhaps go back to the countries they fled in the first place. He’s trying to show he’s tough by preying upon the vulnerable and the defenseless.
