What ought to be brought to the forefront of our national conversation, along with universal background checks and prohibiting further electoral interference, among a grab-bag of sheer disregard of morality from Republicans on high, is that Donald Trump is very obviously a sociopath.
I am not referring to exhibiting symptoms of this behavior – as I know past and current political leaders in the U.S. have exhibited signs. I am referring to how no one has heard Donald Trump take responsibility for literally anything. He pushes back on every public figure critical of him. Dismissing former Senator McCain as a war-hero as far back as an interview 1999, doubling-down on lashing out on a Gold Star family during the 2016 campaign, as well as mocking a disabled reporter. People in general, for better or for worse, learn to rationalize, prioritize, or compromise on things, but Donald Trump goes unabashedly bottomless. Even the completely meaningless Tim Cook of Apple blunder.
That often reported comment from a hospital official in El Paso of Trump’s “absence of empathy” throughout his visit – as lack of empathy is one major symptom – was purely captured in that viral photo, in the showy smile and even more disturbing thumbs-up standing next to a newly orphaned two month-old as a result of white-terror. The Anchondo family expressed being conservatives and supportive of the President, and privately spoke with him before the photo had been taken, but the President’s grin and thumb-up does not serve the sobriety that moment demands. And of the countless other evidence, growing by the hour, the latest: influencing the Israeli government to ban two Muslim U.S. Congresswomen from visiting Israel with dangerously, politically undeterred “hate”-ful talking points, or retweeting a deranged conspiracy theory about Bill Clinton murdering Jeffrey Epstein. Run through the list of symptoms and it is a checklist for Donald Trump (although, more argue that sociopaths do have some conscience).
According to a separate link from this site as for whether this personality disorder can be ‘cured’, due to how their brain is wired, “Trying to teach empathy and emotion to a sociopath is like trying to teach a cellphone to cook a pizza...” Sociopaths, particularly this late in life, cannot be cured. And if such a person happens to be leader of the free world, the holder of the most attention-grabbing job in the world? Add this to, one way or another, being unfit for office.
Honest-to-God sociopaths are obviously not meant to be democratic leaders. This hard-wired, self-aggrandizing real-estate salesperson-in-chief will always make anything and everything about himself. He is not the least bit exhausted by how he continues to anger and exhaust the majority of the rest of the world. It would not be worth for the majority of us to get as outraged over the now twelve-thousand-plus lies and false statements – country-miles beyond any other fact-checked Republican or Democrat in history – or as worked up over the next outrageous thing he will say or do – continuing to go enabled and unpunished over it – as the reason can be better identified. But most importantly, for people who lean to the right and allow politics to interfere with their judgment, who still might argue that Trump does not exhibit racist behavior nor is a white-nationalist or even a white-nationalist sympathizer via his immigration policies and rhetoric, objectively speaking, the current President of the United States is an actual sociopath.
