Good morning, Newdists. I don’t have much of a diary for you this morning—but I do have an announcement. (If you’re a Kitchen Table Kibitzing reader, you already read this diary last night, so feel free to skip to the end!)
With Marti’s blessing, I am taking a step away from writing and going on a hiatus. As many of you know, I am currently going through a few major life changes, all at once. They’re all positive changes, but they are overwhelming nevertheless, especially since they’re coinciding.
Friday was the first official day of my new job, and while I’ve already been at this institution for a few years (I’m moving from part-time to full-time), there are some pretty big changes I’m going to have to adjust to. And, a few weeks ago, I moved into a new apartment with the BF. Even though our relationship is not new, the living situation is taking some serious getting used to (I’ve lived alone for almost a decade). We’re starting new routines together, abandoning old ones we had on our own, and trying to figure out how to live with each other and still maintain some independence at the same time. All while trying to avoid killing each other at times, I might add! Right now, everything feels a little chaotic (granted, I’m inclined to view any major change as chaotic), and I’m finding it a little difficult to keep up.
These changes are big enough, but I was planning to power through them, thinking it could only get easier. But add to all of that the fact that I agreed (a long time ago) to contribute a chapter to a book project. Needless to say, I’m having some intense regret about that decision now, since the deadline is fast approaching. I’m going to need to set aside some serious time to work on that.
All of this is to say that I need to step away from Daily Kos writing commitments for a while. Not forever—I’m planning to return the first weekend of October. Until then, I’ll still be around in the comments (my sanity depends on it), but I won’t be posting diaries. I’m optimistic that this hiatus will be enough for me to catch up with old work, settle into new routines, and recharge my batteries a little.
Now, the really important part:
This has opened up a hole in the New Day Cafe schedule, and Marti needs help. Marti would really, really, really appreciate it if one or more folks volunteered to take a Sunday. Please consider it. You know where to find her if you’re interested!
What do you want to chat about this morning?
All are welcome to join the fun, the silliness, the conversations. If you don’t know...just ask! Some things really do require a bit of explanation.
There will be a few surprises along the way, all good ones, we hope.
We are here to keep building the Daily Kos Community.
We post Mon-Sun at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. On Sunday we go to the C!U!A! posting to show support for all the work being done to promote Democratic candidates/causes. Please to join us there, as well.
Pie fights will be met with outrageous ridicule and insults. Trolls will be incinerated and served at the next group BBQ. As briquettes.
