Some idiots including RWNJ Michelle Malkin tried to make a meme of Elizabeth Warren’s shortcake image posted on Twitter with the usual troll-bottery including the lack of whipped creme.
We’ve all got shit to do. Seriously, has Mango Mussolini even boiled water, much less cooked with his grandchildren.
Earlier this week, Massachusetts senator and presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren posted a photo of a homemade strawberry shortcake that wasn’t going to win any awards on The Great British Baking Show. Whatever, she was making it with her grandson, and she’s got shit to do. Some on the internet decided to lampoon the senator’s baking skills: The website Twitchy wrote about it twice, noting that the photo had become something of a meme, and people critiqued its aesthetics, causing a New York pastry chef to roll his eyes into the back of his head. www.grubstreet.com/… x View this post on Instagram I try not to get too political on IG, out of respect for those with different opinions and the fact that I’m in the business of hospitality not politics, but since this involves cake, I feel it’s relevant to say a few words. So, Senator and Presidential Candidate @elizabethwarren posted this ⬆️ picture yesterday of a Strawberry Shortcake she made with her young grandson. Social media “baking experts” went wild trashing it. But why don’t we take a minute here. We know all of us post the most flattering and manicured pictures of our food and ourselves, all the whole pretending like it’s “effortless”, “easy, breezy, beautiful”. And we also know that ain’t the truth. Shit happens. Just last week, I made a cake that was a complete disaster. It started out with crispy dacquoise, creamy custard and fresh berries but quickly turned into a soupy HOT MESS. I mean, berry liquid weeping EVERYWHERE. Things happen to all of us, even professional pastry chefs. So stop shitting on others, especially a woman who’s an academic, lawyer, writer, CFPB founder, Senator and presidential candidate(one with actual plans and solutions). I mean, how many of us are doing anything more with our lives besides making good/ great food? To me, Warren baking a crumbly shortcake with her grandson while solving world problems is more perfect than all the super manicured “influencer” posts on my feed. So bake on Senator Warren, bake on all the way to the Oval Office. And when it’s time for your inauguration cake, Call me, maybe? 😊 A post shared by Miro Uskokovic (@mirouskokovic) on Aug 14, 2019 at 2:07pm PDT xCAPTION CONTEST: What do you think of Elizabeth WarrenâÂÂs strawberry shortcake? https://t.co/nvvtrNAiC9â Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) August 13, 2019 Twitchy is an American Twitter curation and news website founded by conservative commentator Michelle Malkin in 2012.
