Let’s do the math on Medicare for All, Taxes, and what we currently pay for health care.
Here’s the math in my life:
Current costs for my insurance premiums, co-pays, and other out-of-pocket costs:
$14,000 per year
If my “taxes go up” as much as $10,000 (which is much higher than estimated) I will still be $4000 richer because I won’t be paying $14,000 to a company whose purpose is to collect money and deny me benefits.
Plus, if we do anything like Bernie’s plan, I’ll also save some or all of the $500/year I pay for vision and dental, which currently aren’t covered AT ALL (and not included in my $14,000 above.) And that’s before I break a tooth and need a crown.
When Elizabeth Warren says “Costs will go down,” she’s doing incredibly simple math. So either every debate moderator can’t do 3rd grade math, or they have another agenda.
She isn’t “dodging the question.” She’s answering the question with simple math. MY COSTS WILL GO DOWN. A LOT. And I will get way better care. And so will everyone else in the country.
PS. I will also save $1200/year on Workers Compensation insurance that I’m required to have as a small business owner. Where the hell are the so-called “business people” on that?
