Recently, an app named TikTok has been making it big. It’s used across the world and approximately 800 million people downloaded the app since it launched in 2016. It is a place where people can post short videos of there choice, from about 15-60 seconds. People can lip-sync to music and other audios, they can download their own audios or they can record themselves without an audio. Like YouTube, creators can be payed if they are famous enough. People with a large following are called “TikTok famous” which is now an actual title, it holds the same respect as anyone with a large following on other platforms. I know quite a few people who have become famous on the app. Some people are “one hit wonders” as they only make it on the front page once or twice. While others have millions of followers. It’s usually by chance, though some have impressive talents.
I was a little late to the trend, but I downloaded it a few months back. I am now guilty of watching Tik Toks for hours in stead of watching a YouTube video or Netflix… Oops.
As I mentioned before, there is a wide variety of content on the app including food recipes. While I was on the front page, or the “For You Page,” I saw someone make a mac and cheese recipe and I wanted to try it. All credits go to Joshua Nishi. He is on TikTok as “nishcooks” and on YouTube as “NishCooks.” He has tons of other amazing recipes that I would love to try, feel free to check him out if you want.
Without further ado, here is the bacon mac & cheese recipe:
Ingredients:
One cup of cheese: blend of Parmesan, Mozzarella, American, Gruyere
1/3 pound of Bacon
parsley
four cloves garlic
2 cups Panko
1 teaspoon chili flakes
3 cups milk
macaroni: prepare according to directions
3 tablespoons of butter
3 tablespoons of flour
Cook bacon until crispy. Add garlic and parsley to the bacon. Once the bacon is crispy, add 2 cups of Panko, and 1 teaspoon chili flakes. Cook until the Panko is brown, then take the mixture out of the pan.
Using the same pan, add 3 tablespoons butter and 3 tablespoon flour cook until blended. Add 3 cups of milk. Once blended, add cheeses. Stir macaroni into the sauce. Mix the cheese with Panko breading and make a layer on the top. Put oven in at 450° for about six minutes.
If anyone decides to try it out, let me know what you think of it. Or if you have any similar recipes, I’d love to try them. If you want a more in depth description, he posted it on his YouTube channel as well.
