Rep. Ted Yoho (R-Fla.) confirmed on Tuesday that he will not seek reelection, becoming the latest in an expanding list of elected Republican officials to announce their retirement from Congress.
Yoho is the 23rd Republican to say he will vacate his seat by the end of 2020…
Keep it coming people, we want ya’ll to “retire”.
I cannot, cannot really believe this. Seriously this guy actually paid out a lawsuit?
Trump pays $2 million in damages ordered by judge over misuse of charity funds, according to NY attorney general
President Trump has paid $2 million in court-ordered damages for misusing funds in a tax-exempt charity he controlled, the New York attorney general said Tuesday.
Gawd I hate that they call him President, oh well.
The payment was ordered last month by a New York state judge in an extraordinary rebuke to a sitting president. Trump had been sued in 2018 by the New York attorney general, who alleged the president had illegally used funds from the Donald J. Trump Foundation to buy portraits of himself, pay off his businesses’ legal obligations and help his 2016 campaign.
Now, the foundation will be shuttered. The consequences of this case will linger for Trump. Under the terms of the settlement, he has agreed to special supervision if he ever returns to charity work in New York.
Actually, you should read it all and smile a bit.
Okay peeps I am a true Marvel fan and when I saw this I wanted to scream, don’t mess with the MCU but be patient one says:
Trump campaign tries to make a pop culture reference — and it instantly backfires
President Donald Trump’s campaign faltered again as it attempted to make another pop-culture reference.
In the past, the campaign has run into problems when it photoshopped Trump’s head on Sylvester Stallone’s boxer-body during the film “Rocky,” so as to make the president look less obese.
Tuesday, the Trump crew again compared the president to Thanos a.k.a. “The Mad Titan” who wants to kill half of all living things. He ultimately ends up losing when facing “The Avengers.”
. I won’t afflict you with the original tweet, but the response…
If you want to spoil your morning you can click the link, well in reality the other responses are hysterical!
Good on Burleigh County:
North Dakota County Rejects Trump Option To Bar New Refugees
Commissioners in a North Dakota county have voted to continue accepting refugees for resettlement, a choice they had under a new Trump administration policy that gives local governments the right to refuse.
The Burleigh County Commission, whose largely conservative jurisdiction includes the state capital of Bismarck, voted 3-2 on Monday against turning away new refugees. The commission agreed to take a maximum of 25 refugees over the next year.
This is good news but it is sad the orange dotard, thanks Kim, has let it come to this.
I know this has been around for a couple of days but I could not resist sharing again.
Houston police chief rips 'smug' Cruz and McConnell, who 'don’t want to piss off the NRA'
Two days after a Houston police sergeant was shot dead responding to a domestic violence call, the city police chief, Art Acevedo, has lacerated the majority leader Mitch McConnell and Texas’s two Republican US senators, John Cornyn and Ted Cruz for stalling the Violence Against Women Act.
“I don’t want to see their little smug faces about how much they care about law enforcement when I’m burying a sergeant because they don’t want to piss off the NRA,” Acevedo told reporters on Monday.
Sgt Christopher Brewster was killed in Houston on Saturday. At a briefing the same day, Acevedo paid tribute to Brewster, 32, who was shot repeatedly after responding to a call from a female victim who reported her boyfriend was assaulting her and was armed with two guns.
Smug little faces, LMAO, does he read ShowerCap? Anyhoo, that they can’t pass VAWA is an injustice.
The fight continues, screw tRump.
Progressive groups mount largest ever campaign for paid family leave law
A coalition of women’s, family and progressive groups will announce on Tuesday that they are mounting the largest ever campaign to get Congress to enact a paid family and medical leave law.
Groups in the new campaign include Family Values at Work, the National Partnership for Women and Families, the Center for American Progress, a Better Balance, Moms Rising and several labor unions. Paid Leave for All, the newly formed group spearheading the campaign, has thrown its weight behind the proposed Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act (Family Act), which would enable workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave for a pregnancy, the birth or adoption of a child, a worker’s own serious illness, or caring for a seriously ill family member.
The Family Act would replace 66% of wages, capped at $4,000 a month. It is sponsored in the House by Rosa DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat, and in the Senate by Kirsten Gillibrand, a New York Democrat.
On to some other good news.
33 years after making history, American Airlines' first female captain honored for pioneering role
More than 33 years ago, Beverley Bass soared into history as the first woman captain of a commercial plane for American Airlines, which was the biggest airline in the world. But when she took off from New York's LaGuardia Airport that day in 1986, she didn't know she would become international news.
"I had no idea, but it made headlines around the world," Bass told CBS News at The Points Guy Awards on Monday night. "I just thought I was going to be like every captain, just flying the airplane."
That high-profile flight was followed by countless others. Bass' career as a pilot spanned four decades, and her success in aviation inspired others in the field, as well as women in other industries.
After Five Years of Drought, Kenyan Region Finally Gets Clean Water Thanks to Solar-Powered Saltwater Plant
For the last five years, this Kenyan region has been suffering from debilitating drought—but they have finally been given the gift of clean water thanks to a new solar-powered desalination plant.
Prior to the plant’s launch in the town of Kiunga, villagers had completely run out of clean drinking water and had instead resorted to using dirty well-water and saltwater from the Indian Ocean.
Now, the solar water farm produces enough clean drinking water for more than 35,000 people every day. Not only that, the water has been shown to be even cleaner than typical desalination plants.
I thought this was just so cute and hope it puts a giggle in your morning.

I was sorry to hear about this. But the lovely song will always be remembered.
It Must Have Been Love: Roxette's power ballad is a masterpiece of pain
There’s a case to be made that Roxette’s It Must Have Been Love – sung by Marie Fredriksson, who has died after a 17-year health battle – is the greatest 80s power ballad of them all, and perhaps the greatest breakup song.
Let’s break up with the rEpublican party forever.
That’s it for me, I have some serious chimney issues to deal with and I hope the repairmen even shows up.
As always:
Your 5 weekly to-dos
- Sign up to make some calls connecting voters to 13 key senators. With impeachment hearings moving forward this week in the House, it’s critically important that we prepare for the next stage -- a fair impeachment trial in the Senate. We’ve hit 600,000 calls (!!) but we still have a ways to go to make our goal of calling one million constituents of the 13 senators who really need to hear from them. We're asking you to call voters in those states and ask them to turn up the pressure on their elected officials. It’s a simple four-part process:
- You call a progressive voter in a key state with one of these 13 Republicans. These folks are your friends—they attended the Women’s March and/or fight for progressive causes.
- You explain how they have power now. You’ll remind them why the continued fight for impeachment is so important—and why they have particular power in this moment.
- You ask them to use their power. Then, you’ll ask them to call their senator and make their voices heard on why we’re demanding courage in this moment.
- You push a button and connect them to their senator’s office. The call tool will allow you to automatically patch them through to the senator’s DC office.
- Register or find a Trump is Not Above the Law Impeachment Eve event now. We need to show that there is massive public support for impeaching Trump for his crimes and abuses of power. That’s why the night before the House of Representatives takes a historic vote to impeach Trump, we'll take to the streets to declare that Nobody Is Above the Law. There are more than 265 events on the map as of now with more being added every day. Make sure to RSVP for (or host) one near you.
- Write a letter to the editor on impeachment. This is a critical moment for our democracy -- a moment that requires us to turn up the heat on our elected officials, demand that they hold Trump accountable, and encourage others to get involved. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and make sure your member of Congress and your neighbors know that nobody is above the law.
- Make a call to tell Congress to Defund Hate in the December funding bill. Congress has to fund the government by December 20 but Trump is threatening to shut the government down unless he gets massive funding increases for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). But we won’t let him distract us from his crimes and abuses of power by throwing the government into chaos -- tell your member of Congress to fund the government without any increases in funding for ICE and CBP.
- Tell your representative to improve H.R. 3 and bring down prescription drug prices. The Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3) is going to get a vote in the House this week, but there’s still time for members of Congress to improve the bill. Call your Representative today and tell them to make improvements to H.R. 3, such as ensuring that uninsured people pay lower drug prices and protecting people from drug price spikes!
Please share good news I have missed, especially local and GOTV news!
I am with all of you in this and we will prevail. Fight for justice, fight for the vote!
Peace!
