Interesting activity on Twitter today and into this evening. Disillusioned small donors to Pete Buttigieg are going to ActBlue and requesting that the Buttigieg campaign return their donations. The hashtag #RefundPete is trending. Interesting reading on Twitter.
The Inquisitr also has a story up about the trend:
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg has recently faced scrutiny for his closed-door fundraisers and work at McKinsey. He has since opened his fundraiser doors to the media and released a list of his clients from his time at McKinsey — a record that appears to have sparked even more scrutiny. Amid this scrutiny, some have taken to Twitter to push the “#RefundPete” hashtag to express their disappointment with Buttigieg and ask his campaign to return their donation, encouraging others to do the same.
The story includes a number of Twitter comments using the #RefundPete hashtag.
As I have noted in other comments on this blog, I don’t have much of a problem with his time at McKinsey. He was a junior consultant getting the crap kicked out of him with 60- to 70-hour weeks which is what happens to the new recruits at those meat-grinder firms. I know some folks here still have problems with his choice to work at McKinsey, but I have much bigger issues with Buttigieg.
I think the fact that the guy has gone from being a self-described progressive millennial who dumped on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for their “centrist incrementalism,” to a guy who actively promotes centrist incrementalism while slamming fellow Dems to his left in the period of a few short months tells you all you need to know about him.
He’s an opportunist and a chameleon. He is not to be trusted. I didn’t donate to him and won’t be donating him so I have nothing to get back from his campaign. I won’t be posting any #RefundPete blurbs on Twitter.
