I went to the National Mall on January 20, 2017 to protest trump. The next day I attended the Women’s March. I was there for the student-led “March for Our Lives” and I attended a small inter-faith protest in Lafayette Square. This past 4th of July a few friends and I went to protest trump’s grotesque hijacking of Independence Day. Ultimately, I feel that this is the bare minimum I could have done. Realistically, I feel I should have done more; since I live close to Washington D.C., it’s fairly easy for me to get to our nation’s capital to protest.
My point here is very simple. If there was ever a time for people to protest donald trump, now is that time. In fact, if there are not huge, organized rallies for impeachment then I don’t know what the Left is doing. It may well be that impeachment is doomed in the Senate, they will never vote to convict. Charles Blow wrote in the New York Times today that the House bringing Articles of Impeachment is the victory. Regardless of whether that is true, I cannot believe, after the shitshow of a presidency this continues to be Every Single Day, that people will not show up to protest, to clamor for his impeachment. We should blockade the Capitol. There should be thousands of people on the steps of Capitol Hill. If people of conscience, Democrats, Independents AND Republicans cannot find it in themselves to take to the streets, then this travesty will continue unabated. trump is out there holding campaign rallies, WHAT ARE WE DOING???
