In the world I grew up in, kids like me always knew we were really in trouble when Mom or Dad used our middle name when calling us out (or in) for some misbehavior. Light years separated someone calling out “Timmy, come inside now.” (names changed to protect the innocent and guilty) and calling out “Timothy Robert Jenkins, come inside. Now!”.
This afternoon, when I saw Mitch McConnell intoning the words “Donald John Trump” over and over, as he opened the President’s coming ordeal in the Senate Impeachment Trial, it triggered those long ago childhood feelings and I hoped, no doubt in vain, that similar emotions somehow still lurked in what’s left of the soul of Donald John Trump, who was undoubtedly watching from the White House.
