When you think of Social Justice Warriors, who or what do you think of?
Do you think of all the people trying to keep Planned Parenthood in business, or do you think about Elizabeth Banks saying that Charlie’s Angels failed because men wouldn’t watch it?
Do you think about all the people working to extend legal protections to same sex marriages, or do you think about those people posting how Star Wars needed to be woke, and that all the fans are haters?
When you think of Social Justice Warriors, do you think “dedicated, caring, and progressive”?
Or do you think “entitled, over-emotional, and with poor judgement”?
The SJW movement has been getting a lot of flak from the actions of their corporate promoters lately. Kathleen Kennedy turned the Star Wars franchise into a feminist screed, promoting uber-girl Rey and defaming Luke Skywalker, then attacked the fans for not liking it. Elizabeth Banks did the same with Charlie’s Angels. See also Ghostbusters, Doctor Who, Captain Marvel, . . .
We have so-called SJWs on the internet now who are acting stupid, violent, over-emotional, and entitled. When challenged on it, or on their beliefs, the double down. It makes me wonder what these people REALLY believe.
Because here’s the thing: If I was going to smear progressivism, these are exactly the tactics I would use. I would take franchises with huge fanbases and change or add characters which are horribly twisted versions of progressives, in order to enrage those fans. I would get shills to call out anyone who criticizes the added political messaging, and make the message itself into an extreme caricature of progressive thought. I would get a few women, ones with HUGE bankrolls who would be natural enemies of tax-the-rich progressives, to lead the way.
I wonder if the wave of SJW movies, TV shows, and comics coming out of companies run by old white guys might be deliberately bad and annoying, in order to deliberately discredit progressivism? I wonder if there’s a way to find out?
