I lost a hero. I’m crying a bit too much to type for long, so I will pepper some thoughts in between reasons why I love this man.
I can’t imagine how boring I would be without Terry’s influence on my sense of humor.
He taught me that it was OK for a straight man to march around town in make up and a bad wig.
In junior high I dressed up in drag for a school talent show. I didn’t win first prize, but I got a lot of laughs. I spent my teenage years with more self confidence than most kids, because Terry taught me that it is good to laugh at yourself.
In high school I was using his characters and voices as inspiration for my own short films I made for a T.V. production class. I always loved his cocky female voices. He could make me laugh with one grunt.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to say good bye to one of my favorites actor/director/author/historians. If there’s a heaven, you better be sitting at the dais. God needs a better sense of humor.
