“I wish it need not have happened in my time.” said Frodo. “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times.” “But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” We all feel for Frodo. We all would like to spend time doing other things than organizing, registering people with the hope they will vote, traveling to the Hill for more times than we can count, etc.. We would like a break from the constant chaos caused by this administration. And there are plenty of other battles that need our attention. But in our hearts, we all know that Gandalf is right. This is the time to decide what we will do with the time given us.
I just saw Jay Sekulow on Faux News. He said that most Americans aren’t paying attention because they can see through the Democrats’ hypocrisy. I wasn’t surprised so I switched to Rachel Maddow and saw Senator Schumer. He was cautiously optimistic as polls indicate that most Americans want witnesses. He basically said that the court of public opinion will be the deciding factor in what happens going forward. He’s right. We have a very small window of time to call senators, go to the Capitol or their local offices and leave a written message, or do whatever we can to let them know that we expect a fair trial. A trial that includes witnesses and exhibits/documents. Anything less is a farce. We have a small window of time to let them know this is still our government and that we are paying attention. “Faithless is he who says farewell when the road darkens.”
