Back in November 2019, US Representative Ayanna Pressley – the first Black woman to represent Massachusetts in Congress – announced her endorsement of Senator Elizabeth Warren.
Last weekend, Pressley appeared on AMJoy’s “Who Won The Week” to discuss her recent and brave video about alopecia and her hair own loss.
During her appearance, Pressley also delivered a powerful POV on the Warren campaign and why she supports the senator in the 2020 primary.
I was unable to find a transcript of her appearance but it’s well worth the time to watch the video.
Pressley’s discussion of her support for Warren starts at the 4:24 mark.

A number of news outlets noted that Pressley’s endorsement of Warren breaks from “The Squad” members who have endorsed Senator Bernie Sanders: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
Pressley Is A Fierce Advocate
On Nov. 22, 2019, Warren was speaking at an event at Clark Atlanta University when a pro-Charter School organization, the Powerful Parent Network, interrupted chanting “Our voice! Our choice!”
What blew me away is how Pressley stepped up to calm the situation and address the group with such strength and power. Watch the video — the transcript doesn’t do her justice:

“No one is here to quiet you,” Pressley said. “You are welcome here. The senator is here to talk about the contributions fighters like you have made to history, so in this moment…there are many people that do not know this story because we have been rendered as a historical footnote in history. So I am going to appeal to you to not dishonor that history.”
“We are grateful for your activism and your voice and you are welcome here and we would love to convene after this about the issue that you are here to stoke our consciousness about.”
Full disclosure: Since my own top three choices in the 2020 Democratic Primary have dropped out, I’m essentially undecided.
However, I can’t help but sit up and take notice of Ayanna Pressley — a fierce advocate for Warren who has me thinking I may be looking at the first Black Woman President in the future.
Pressley will be in South Carolina this weekend stumping for Warren.
