We already know what’s wrong with IMPOTUS (malignant narcissistic personality disorder, possible dementia).
At 2:50, he says:
“The president believes that the Ukraine interfered in our election. I can tell you without any doubt it was the Russians who hacked into the DNC. It was not the Ukrainians. I cannot say that there was nobody in the Ukraine that had worked with Manafort that did a number on him. I don’t know. All I can tell you is from the president’s point of view, he did nothing wrong in his mind.”
The purposeful obfuscation about Manafort aside (“did a number on him” = “reported him to the law”), he’s giving a nod to the reality of Russian, not Ukrainian, interference, but saying that because Trump genuinely believes that the Ukraine interfered in the election, he did nothing wrong in his mind and therefore shouldn’t be impeached.
In other words, it’s okay for the United States to have someone capable of utter delusion based on what he wants to be true rather than what experts and authorities tell him is true, as President.
Is Graham fucking delusional himself?
But let’s take a step further and put this in the context of narcissist personality disorder. I doubt Graham has studied up on it — it’s just the sort of thing GOP congressthings do not want to know — but after all that golfing with inveterate cheater Trump he’s got to know that Trump thinks everything he does is right because it’s him doing it (which is an NPD symptom).
In other words, Trump both cheats at golf and believes Ukraine interfered in the election for the same reason — there are worms in his brain.
And Graham, who claims to love his country, is okay with that being president.
That makes what he says at 2:25 pure gaslighting: “If he thought he was doing something wrong, he would probably shut up about it.” Right. This is the guy who invited the Russians to find Hillary Clinton’s emails on national TV and who says “I didn’t do it, but it’s not really wrong anyway” all the time about all kinds of things.
Graham knows him better than that. He is playing on the public’s tendency to normalize insane behaviour. Most of us would keep quiet about something we did wrong, so it seems logical. But the pathological logic of NPD is, as previously mentioned, “I can do no wrong.”
I’m not sure what the sickness afflicting the Republican side of the Senate is — careers dedicated to being the lapdogs of the 1% and terror of the Fox-brainwashed MAGA mob combined, I think, are the likeliest — but if Lindsey Graham exemplifies it, it is very, very, very sick. And needs to be excised.
