Elizabeth Warren is not afraid of telling the truth about the real problems we face because she is an expert problem solver, with a record of solving big problems. Corruption, healthcare, climate change and income inequality are some of the huge problems that are about to get much worse, if we keep ignoring them with half measures, that do nothing. Warren is telling us the truth, so we can deal with these problems head on and solve them together.
Warren is the only candidate whose top priority is corruption, which is the fight we have to win to save our democracy. We can’t fix any of our other problems without stopping much of the corruption first. Running on fighting corruption is also the best contrast with Trump and the (no witness, evidence suppressing) Republicans who are now the most corrupt we have ever seen. Corruption is a tough issue that no other candidate is willing to make their top issue and that disqualifies them for me. Warren launched her campaign with "End Washington Corruption, Save Our Democracy and Rebuild the Middle Class"—a perfect bulls-eye for me. Rebuilding the middle class is how we create the strongest economy, one that works for everyone, rich and poor.
Warren is also a champion debater who does not get rattled easily. She scores in the top 2 or 3 of every climate and environmental scorecard—and she is running an excellent field campaign, with great voter lists and campaign literature. We’ve been knocking on doors in Virginia for more than a month and have seen no sign of any other campaign on the ground.
That is why I believe Warren will not take anything for granted and will solve our first big problem, beating Trump in November. Warren knows not to let her consultants waste all the money on TV ads. She understands why we have to invest in recruiting a million volunteers to talk to a hundred million voters, because that is how we win. With the data gathered on the ground, Warren’s campaign will know if we have problems in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin or anywhere, and Warren will not be afraid to visit those states and reallocate resources accordingly. She will know which states are solid (above 7%) and which are lost (below 7%) and pull resources from those states and put them in states that are close (within 4%) like MI, PA, and WI. Last but not least, Warren understands that we have to invest in a data team that will scrub our lists so we are not reminding Trump supporters to vote in the last four days of the election. The lack of the above is how we lost to Trump in 2016. Not repeating these mistakes is how we beat Trump in 2020.
On healthcare and Medicare for all, Elizabeth Warren's $21 trillion Medicare for All plan is a bargain compared to what we will spend if we don’t make big changes soon. We have 500,000 medical bankruptcies each year and skyrocketing costs, expected to hit $50 trillion over the next 10 years. Our current system is collapsing and only the very rich will be able to afford private insurance in the near future. The insurance industry has no intention of allowing a public option because they are milking the current system for every penny. Warren’s plan has a 10-year transition that includes comprehensive coverage for everyone, no copay, no premiums, no exclusion for preexisting conditions—and it can't be cancelled for anyone. The other candidates know this is the best path forward but don’t want to scare voters with the truth.
That is why I support Elizabeth Warren for president of the United States of America. If you think we need an expert problem solver in the White House, join us here: https://elizabethwarren.com/volunteer
