Wendell Potter discussed the new Yale Study on Medicare for All on MSNBC’s Katy Tur show today. The study could be a game changer and Potter fully agreed with its findings. Sanders, an author of the Bill, said yesterday in an interview:
“This study confirms that Medicare for All will save the American people $450 billion on health care costs and will prevent 68,000 unnecessary deaths – each and every year,” Sanders said. “In other words, guaranteeing health care as a human right by creating a Medicare for All system will cost substantially less than our current dysfunctional health care system. It will save working class families thousands of dollars and it will prevent tens of thousands of Americans from dying each year. While the CEOs in the pharmaceutical and health insurance industry may not like it, we will end their greed and enact Medicare for All when I am president.”
Wendell Potter is a former for-profit health care insurance executive who realized his life’s work was hurting people. His job within the industry was basically to prevent reform and keep the profits rolling in from the corrupt system. So he made a 180 and has been a strong advocate for reforming our healthcare system in the last decade. Here’s what he thinks about a rival plan, Medicare for All Who Want It.
Warren and Sanders support very similar Medicare for All plans. Medicare for All is the best way to reform our Healthcare system. It will be cheaper than the current system and covers everyone. Under Medicare for All we no longer need to siphon profits to healthcare CEO’s and their lobbying efforts. The money goes where it should go, to providing healthcare.
