Thinking voters who’ve taken the time to understand the parallels between America in 2020 and Germany in the 1930s realize that Donald Trump is using the same playbook Adolph Hitler used to consolidate power, prestige, and wealth.
Don’t believe it?
If you don’t, you might want to consider the following parallels:
- Hitler blamed all of Germany’s problems on Jews, ‘others’ of different races and religions, and previous governments while Trump blames all of America’s problems on brown immigrants, asylum-seekers, Muslims, minorities, and Barack Obama.
- Hitler claimed that he had the “absolute right” to govern unilaterally through executive orders and proclamations and declarations of “emergency powers” to eliminate minorities, institute social change, direct public funding for pet projects, and start wars while Trump claims that the Constitution gives him the right to do whatever he wants to do without any accountability to Congress or the Judiciary.
- Hitler communicated directly to his base with one-channel radios while Trump talks directly to his base with one-way tweets.
- Hitler publicly doubted the ability of democracy to make Germany “great again,” challenged the democratic process, and purged voting rolls while Trump threatened not to be bound by results of the 2016 election (if he lost), regularly attacks congressional and judicial power and authority, supports purging voter rolls to prevent imaginary voter fraud, advocates efforts to make voting more challenging to improve his chances of reelection, encourages violence at rallies, and even hints at the possibility of civil war if he does not win in 2020.
- Hitler embraced an extreme “Germany-first” nationalism and convinced the German people that he alone could “revive German greatness” while Trump consistently claims that he alone can “Make America Great Again.”
- Hitler held carefully orchestrated rowdy mass rallies to create and sustain his image as a bewitching leader who sees all and knows all while reinforcing his emotional bond with his base while Trump holds well-planned, rowdy rallies as platforms to spread disinformation, coalesce support from his base, and boost his desperate need for attention and adoration.
- Hitler twisted the truth to hide his criminality and incompetence by continually referring to the mainstream press as the “lying press” while Trump attempts to conceal his criminal behaviors and stunning ineptitude by attacking the media as the “enemy of the people” claiming that any news that makes Trump look bad is “fake news” and by going so far as to lead rally-goers in chants like “CNN sucks.”
- Hitler vilified political opponents, calling them “cockroaches, criminals, parasites, and scum” while Trump vilifies anyone he thinks is “disloyal”’ calls Mexicans “rapists,” warns against America being ‘infested’ with leprosy-infected, murdering immigrants who dare to have the wrong color skin, makes fun of any actual or potential competitor and threatens to “lock-up enemies” like James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and Hillary Clinton.
- Hitler was a flagrant misogynist who viewed women as nothing more than wives and mothers who could not be trusted with decision-making authority in business or politics while Donald Trump uses nondisclosure agreements, secret payments, and intimidation to hide his predatory sexual behaviors from the public to alter voting patterns.
- Hitler, his henchmen, and supporters proactively lied to undergird a fawning narrative designed to make the Fuhrer look divine while Trump and his minions and fans vigorously spread lies intended to make the world think he’s superhuman.
The parallels between Hitler’s takeover of and power over Germany and Trump’s takeover of and power over America are, in fact, no coincidence.
While you may not believe that Trump admires Hitler for having annihilated millions of human beings while destroying much of Europe, you can’t believe that he isn’t effectively copying how Hitler did it.
Can you?
