How easily we forget. Do you need a reminder?
It’s happening again.
Infighting. Turmoil. Conspiracy. Fiasco.
We all lived it in 2016 and saw the results (see above). I experienced it again in 2017 here in Omaha. We need to do better, we need to be working at this now and calling out efforts to divide us for what they are.
The stakes could not be more real.
I’ve had two close friends die in the course of three months, both were underinsured with simultaneous GoFundMe campaigns blanketing my social feeds begging for help. Neither got even close to their goal, they never had a chance. A third friend in Omaha is going through this now, prostate cancer.
I’m reminded every day that our political divide is killing us. This is happening all over the country.
Some would rather kill themselves than burden their families with medical debt.
Kids are in cages. The rule of law is all but eroded. Corruption is rampant. The rich have never been richer while so many of us can’t afford to live. Four more years of this is a death sentence. The next President will decide the next generation on the Supreme Court.
If you can’t see the forest for the trees in this situation then you need to step back from the horserace and realize what is actually happening. You are being divided intentionally. Whether it’s through social media or the pages of the Washington Post.
We need to fight like hell for the nominee and fight like hell for each other.
