On Tuesday, Reuters/Ipsos released the results of a national poll that showed Sen. Bernie Sanders overtaking Joe Biden in support among African Americans. Going into the South Carolina primary, where Biden’s perceived strengths are based on historic support from African Americans, this is something of a big deal. The number of African Americans saying they would support Sanders in their state’s primary was up 7 points from the previous week’s polling.
A few weeks ago, progressive commentator Benjamin Dixon put out a call to online to friends of his, asking them to send a video telling him who they were planning on voting for this election season. Dixon, an unabashed Sanders supporter, put together a quick cut video of some of the responses he received, which you can watch below. Hashtagged #BernieBruh, the video has begun to take off online, as many people show their support before Saturday’s primary. Dixon has been stumping for Sanders in his own way since 2015, and has made a big part of his mission to figure out ways to best organize black people for Sanders.
