I had planned on doing a piece on a statistical tool that would help you track COVID-19’s movement around the world. As you can see, it didn’t happen.
Mr. It’s Not My Fault, I’m Not Responsible has shown he’s totally useless. Less than useless. Pence has shown he’s not any better. The GOP’s belief in less government sounds great when everything’s hunky dory, but in a crisis you need someone who thinks government has a role. People who are experienced managers. And I’m not talking about managers from a business perspective, but people who know how to manage people, decisions etc. Someone who knows how to delegate, who to delegate and what to delegate. Someone who knows how to get out of the way. Someone who doesn’t need his ass kissed multiple times a day. Trump, Pence, Mnuchin, Azar, nor Redfield appear to be up to the task.
Despite being world wide corporations, multiple businesses that we are in dire need of acting are failing spectacularly. It’s not entirely their fault, they’re not built for this either. Their business model is geared to make a profit, now is not the time to be worried about profit. Corporations are not going to make one mask, one ventilator or even one gown they don’t have to if they think they’re going to be sitting on it as inventory. The Federal government has to order and then guarantee the supplies and equipment that’s needed. This isn’t a job for governors or mayors. It’s the job of a strong federal government that knows how to do logistics. In times of crisis the federal government when led by the GOP have consistently shown they have no ability to handle things on a national scale. Not for the benefit of the people. Cronyism and profit they can do. Taking care of those in need, is not something the GOP believes.
History has given us examples of what’s coming. The Flu pandemic of 100 years ago being probably the best model of scale. Think waves. COVID-19 like the 1918 Flu pandemic is going to come in waves. We’re experiencing only the first wave. The first wave isn’t the deadliest. If we’re lucky the second wave will be the deadliest because by the time the third wave comes we’ll have a vaccine. That’s assuming COVID-19 hasn’t morphed into COVID-21.
What will add to the deadliness of the 2nd wave will be the shrugging of too many thinking the first wave was’t that bad. It was just over-hyped by the never Trumpsters
