This is truly epic. Trump's inability to deal with reality (instinct to run and hide from it really) and his absolute existential need to paint a false reality, is captured perfectly in this incredible, brief exchange where, when Trump realizes that instead of being “friendly”, FOX’s John Roberts is challenging Trump on the truth of his blaming Obama for everything that’s gone wrong on his watch, and it ultimately boils over at the mention of Trump’s disbanding the pandemic response team.
It’s truly something how he panics, jumps right into the lie that it’s a “false story”, and cuts Roberts off to move on quickly to a new questioner.
I’ll post a transcript if I can, but the defensive finger pointing is truly epic.
A rough summary:
JR: “You’ve talked about the failings of the Obama administration leaving you with empty shelves, and no plans...”
DT: “… and no ammunition”
JR: “… and that you got rid of the pandemic office, and...”
DT: “We didn’t do that. That turned out to be a false story. And now you’re starting to go, uh… What are you... working for CNN?”
JR: “No, NO, NO… I’m pointing out what they have said and what you have said...”
DT: “ I thought you were with FOX”
and then he gets really angry…
LATE EDIT; That this is the fact that triggered him shows what a vulnerability he knows it is.
Also: That FOX brought it up shows how universally recognized the significane of this failure is.
Everyone should hammer him with it. It will be his end.
