The Colorado Springs Gazette has an article today (warning — paywall) here on their digital front page about a “social media post” by the current GOP county chair on the official El Paso County site stating:
“Hello, El Paso County! Do you believe the Coronavirus is a PSYOP (Psychological Operation)? Post your answer … the definition of a PSYOP is below.
The state party reached out and had the county party take it down. The state party reaction was swift in attempting to put out yet another Republican dumpster fire.
"We found the post to be inappropriate and asked the El Paso County GOP to remove it immediately," Joe Jackson, the state Republican Party's communications director, said in an email to Colorado Politics.
The county chair had also posted on her personal Facebook page that the Coronavirus is a hoax (and was not taking it down as far as I know). Her defense was that the post on the GOP website was intended “to make people think, but if they don’t want to and get offended” she would take it down because “this is not the hill I want to die on”. BTW, she has also posted on here personal Facebook page “This is the time for civil unrest”
The article cites that Townhall — they call it a conservative website — blasted her for it — “Insane and reckless that it went up at all”.
This is still a county that will keep Doug Lamborn in Congress — tryly ineffective) and an assortment of RWNJs in the state house. The area that promoted and launched the campaign to put Sarah Palin on the Republican VP ticket. The area that houses Focus on the Family, New Life Church and a wide assortment of lesser known and more divergent religious groups. This is what we face in this pandemic. And this county’s voters will not punish the local GOP for this.
Help us all.
