Now that Bernie Sanders has dropped out, the discussion we should have is about what we can do to get as many people on board so that we can vote the orange cheeto out of the White House on November 3. There are some very very legitimate grievances from progressive which we must not ignore. To name just a few:
- College loan debt
- Increasing income inequality
- Our nation’s corporate culture is too obsessed with greed and not concerned about giving workers a living wage
- Medical care
I think the progressive voices who have supported Sanders do have some legitimate concerns that a Biden administration will not help them as much as a Sanders administration would have, and it is very important we listen to their grievances.
This is a time for compassion and this is a time for us to say “Listen, I think there were some very good reasons to support Sanders, and we think what you have to say is very important.” It’s also a time to listen to those supporters, even as they go through the anger stage of their grief. For people who are angry: What do you want Biden to do?
Again, I am glad that Sanders has run and I am glad that he brought more progressive voices to the table.
