For those wondering why we have an election liveblog on a Monday afternoon/early evening, a quick reminder: In response to the COVID crisis, courts allowed for late collection of absentee ballots by election officials (and originally also allowed for late mailing of those same ballots, until the U.S. Supreme Court said they had to be postmarked by April 7). As a result, counties had until today to collect absentee ballots. That same original court ruling had said that results from the Wisconsin elections, which included the presidential primary in addition to the Supreme Court case we are covering today, would not be revealed until the absentee ballot collection deadline, which is today.
