Welcome to Woozle Wednesday — and our tribute to the Peeps!
Yes, it’s Woozle Wednesday, that day of the week when the Pooties take the day off and the pooches come to the rescue and take up the slack — well, those that are trained not to pull on their leashes.
It’s the week after Easter, and that is a very special time for some Peeps. Why? Because some hoomins (like the diarist’s very own sister) are eagerly awaiting for the little marshmallow candy chicks and bunnies to go stale. Apparently, a certain sub-set of sugar-coated soft fluffy candy marshmallow lovers attest to the delicacy and deliciousness of said candy Peeps whose exteriors have started to harden and interiors have become chewier. Or so I am told.
Well, here in Woozleville, our diligent mayor and our steadfast town council had their noses to the ground and got wind of the situation. “Can our hoomins go stale?” some of the dogs asked with genuine concern. The woozles love their hoomins and were worried for their welfare. They needed answers. Woozleville is a very small and democratic (and Democratic) village, so they called a town meeting. All the canine citizens came, as did their friends from the neighboring villages of cats, farmyard animals, birds wild and domestic, and more. Of course, the residents of Woozleville are dogs and they may have gotten the wrong end of the sick.
The recording secretary, who is tasked with keeping the minutes being the only member of the village with opposable thumbs (aka our diarist), had to apprise the village officials of their mistake. It wasn’t that kind of Peeps going stale — it was only candy.
But as the villagers were already assembled, the discussion ranged further afield (actually, the woozles went farther afield, the pootie citizens remained by the refreshment table).
Yes, they were relieved that their hoomins were not getting hard bitten. But something was still amiss. Why weren’t the Peeps ever the topic of a group diary? The group is PWB Peeps — as in Pooties, Woozles Birdeez and Peeps. We get Pootie diaries galore, Woozles have Wednesdays (and show up on other days), Birdeez make regular appearances. So do many other domestic animals and wild exotic creatures. But no Peeps.
What was to be done? How to thank their loyal Peeps for everything they do for their critters? The answer: a Peeps diary in tribute to the Peeps! To the Peeps, for the Peeps, Of the Peeps. It made so much sense. And was long overdue! So it was resolved by resounding voice (and howl and bark and woof and meow and chirp and neigh and squeak and other animal yeahs). The Yeahs have it!
Before we get to the official awards presentations below the fold, the Parliamentarian will make sure that the Rulz are posted in the minutes, per our arrangement with the venue’s Management:
THE RULZ
- Do not “Troll” the Pootie Peeps Diaries. If you don’t like animal diaries, there’s no need to tell us about it. Just go find some other diary more to your liking.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly. So, no pie fights please.
- If you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: 1) snakes and creepy crawlies (some folks have phobias). 2) Any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals, even in jest, are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated.
- If you’re not sure about an issue...please ask. Someone is always glad to help.
- Links to the Community Needs List or other fundraising diaries are always welcome here. Just links with a short explanation, please, and not the entire fundraising request, per the management.
You are welcome to join us! Be kind to one another, we’re all in this together.
