For anyone visiting this web site, news of yet another, new, glaring example of how Donald J. Trump shamelessly used his political office for personal political or financial gain should come as no surprise.
In fact, an argument could easily be made that there’s never been an instance where he has made a decision or taken an action while in the White House that wasn’t motivated by personal benefit (if someone could think of one, please feel free to share it in the comments section.)
The latest example involves the “stimulus” checks being sent out to help mitigate the damage to the economy by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this latest example of the extreme levels self-dealing that this White House will go to, Trump insisted that hard copies of checks have his name on them (despite his previous denial that he ever intended to do that and despite the fact that none of the money being distributed is his to actually, you know, distribute). The money is from the public treasury. And yet, he insisted, during this time of crisis, that his name be printed on those checks.
This is not normal. In fact, it is unprecedented in American history. Never before has a check issued to a citizen by the IRS featured the name of the president.
And, just in case any of Trump’s apologists happen to be reading this article, let me make this clear for you: It’s a blatant conflict-of-interest for anyone, including the person occupying the White House, to misuse their political office for personal political gain like this, by using federal funds to promote themselves and their campaigns. It is virtually the very definition of the word “corruption.” And if it were a Democrat doing this, Republicans would be squealing like pigs about it.
While many people may consider this too petty of an issue to raise a stink about in this fall’s general election campaign, this particular citizen would, respectfully, disagree. This is not just another glaring example of the abject corruption of this administration...using public funds to try to benefit himself. It is the poster-child of that corruption. Literally. The checks are being made into campaign posters.
And, so far, while there has been periodic, sporadic reporting on the numerous other instances of similar nefarious actions by this dishonest president, most of those have been overshadowed by all of the other outrages that he deliberately stokes to try to keep people from focusing on his blatantly unethical and amoral behaviors. This “gas-lighting” (diverting people’s attention from major scandal by deliberately creating other controversy) should not be allowed to succeed this time.
If Joe Biden, or anyone associated with his campaign happens to be reading this particular article, could you please, please consider the following piece of advice:
The American people have not been fully exposed to the full extent of the ongoing filth politics of this administration. And, while there are a whole host of issues that will be discussed and debated during this year’s presidential election campaign, could you, Mr. Biden, please do us all a favor and make sure that at least one of your campaign’s major messages focuses on these shameless acts of misuse and abuse of political power?
It doesn’t necessarily need to be the primary focus of the entire campaign. Heavens knows, there is a wide assortment of issues to run against him on. But In my humble opinion, a concerted effort needs to be made to focus at least a fair percentage of the campaign’s efforts on Trump’s self-dealing and abuse of power.
And...by the way...whenever Trump or any one of his co-conspirators even dares to raise or insinuate claims of unethical behavior by Joe Biden, could someone on Biden’s campaign please be sure to immediately use that as an opportunity to focus this entire nation’s attention on the entire litany of unethical, corrupt behavior by Trump and his administration? Every single, tiny little insinuation by the Trump campaign should immediately be used to put the spotlight on Trump, as well as members of his his family and administration, who have shamelessly used and abused their political power for personal financial and political gain. The last person on earth who should be allowed to get away with making any allegations against anyone else regarding unethical or immoral behavior...is Donald J. Trump, the most amoral, unethical and corrupt person to ever lie, cheat and steal their way into political power in this country. And anyone on Joe Biden’s campaign, who would allow Trump to ever establish the “moral high ground” on any matter whatsoever...is guilty of political malfeasance and dereliction of duty.

(P.S. Whether having his name added to the checks may have delayed the issuance of the checks is another question that’s been raised. Administration officials deny that it did, while other officials have indicated that it may have. Whether it did delay the checks, even by just one day or so, does not alter the fact that this was a clear abuse of power and should not be glossed over.)
