The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon, has about 100 aviation and space vehicles on display. Shown below are some jet fighters which are displayed on the Museum grounds.
Northrop F-5E, Tiger II
The F-5 is a variant of the T-38A Talon supersonic jet trainer. This plane was introduced in 1970: it cruises at 645 mph and has a top speed of 1,060 mph.
The Tiger II was similar in size and capability to the Soviet MiG-21.
Grumman TF-9J, Cougar
During the Korean War, the Grumman F9F Panther was the Navy’s workhorse, but it was outclassed by the Soviet MiG-15. In response, Grumman created the F9F-6 Cougar. The TF-9J is a trainer. This aircraft was first introduced in 1956: it cruises at 475 mph and has a top speed of 630 mph.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29, Fulcrum A
This Soviet airplane was developed during the Cold War. According to the display:
“Consistently outperforming other fighter jets of its day, the MiG-29 became a force to be reckoned with. Many countries moved to procure the Fulcrum, including India, Iran, Pakistan, Cuba, Peru, and all Soviet Bloc nations.”
This aircraft was first introduced in 1983: it cruises at 520 mph and has a top speed of 1,320 mph.
Grumman F-14D, Super Tomcat
The F-14 Tomcat was the long-range defender of the U.S. Navy’s fleets around the world for more than three decades. The F-14D Super Tomcat had more powerful engines. The Navy procured 36 of these aircraft: 18 built new and 18 converted from the older Tomcats. This aircraft was first introduced in 1987: it cruises at 498 mph and has a top speed of 1,544 mph.
Convair F-106A, Delta Dart
This aircraft was first introduced in 1956: it cruises at 650 mph and has a top speed of 1,525 mph.
Convair F-102A, Delta Dagger
This aircraft was first introduced in 1953: it cruises at 600 mph and has a top speed of 810 mph.
