On this graph from 91-divoc (last graph at the bottom of the page) you can see that, for most states, the rate of new COVID-19 cases per 1 million people (averaged over the last week) has recently stabilized or gone down. But in these five highlighted states — Ohio (purple), Iowa (green), North Dakota (orange), Nebraska (red), and West Virginia (blue) — the rate appears to have taken an upward swing in the last few days. Is this just an anomaly from testing/data collection or just random variation? Or is this the beginning of a bad trend in those states?
