A Daily Kos user came up with what he calls the 140 District Project to flip Florida BLUE. The reason Florida is so important is that they have 29 Electoral College votes. While there are multiple paths to victory for the Democrats without Florida, there is no Presidential path to victory for the Republicans without it.
So by all means, let’s deny Trump these Florida votes, and the way to do it is by running candidates in every district. That’s the way Virginia flipped blue last year and amazing things have happened there since.
The Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida (DECF) is on board with this project.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida (DECF) strives to support Florida lawmakers, candidates, legislation and businesses that preserve, protect and enhance Florida’s natural resources. The DECF concerns may include but are not limited to Florida’s air quality, shorelines and coasts, aquifers, waterways, wet lands, wildlife, remaining natural areas and publicly owned wild lands and parks.
The DECF intends to:
- Help elect Democratic candidates who endorse suitable action on critical environmental issues.
- Provide party members and the general public credible data relating to environmentally sensitive issues as informed opinion, legislative alerts and technical/science expertise.
- Monitor local and state legislation and policy that affect Florida’s environment, and alert legislators and the public. www.environmentalcaucus.com/...
They are actively seeking candidates to run in every race and they are looking for candidates with an eye on climate change. They want candidates who understand the climate change effects on: health, economy, jobs, immigration, agriculture, housing, and natural disasters, among other things. You name it and the DECF gets it, they really get it!
We can all help by emailing everyone on our email list (or text if you must) to tell folks of this Project. Ask everyone to email or text everyone they know, and eventually this message will get to folks in Florida who may be willing to run for office.
Then we can help them raise the fee to file their candidacy, because there is no collecting signatures right now (not even with masks and gloves). We can also help the The Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida by donating straight to them.
