For some reason, we Democrats have a thing against positive thinking. So why do I believe Trump is toast? Trump!
Currently, in multiple polls, Joe Biden had a comfortable lead, nationally, and a small but consistent lead in battleground states ranging from Pennsylvania to Michigan to Arizona, and North Carolina.
I know you are going to tell me that Hillary was leading in the polls, and lost.
Hillary ran a poor campaign, that’s a fact. She also had the full weight of Russia, and the FBI against her. And, she was disliked even before she was even nominated. 6.9 million Obama voters didn’t even vote. And, then there was Bill. Quite the turn off, especially to women.
I believe that when the history of the 2020 election is written, scholars will show a turning point. Inject yourself with cleaning products! Trump did more than put his foot in, he lost himself the election.
Even the most ardent Trump supporter, at least the ones not waiting for the Hale Bopp Comet to return, had to scratch their heads.
Words matter. Ever since Trump went completely off the rails, his poll numbers have gone down, especially with his most consistent supporters, seniors.
Trump is counting on the economy to come back to save his bacon. So he is imploring Republican Governors to open their states. Encouraging, small handed, gun toting, non mask wearing, bullies to intimidate lawmakers. It’s not working.
As they remind us who studied and know history, of the Brown Shirts and Black Shirts of Italy and Germany of the 30’s, Trump may be making his shrinking base happy, while scaring the s**t out the most of us.
Opening the economy, now will not work, already numbers of new cases and deaths in opening states are going up. So much that the Governor of Georgia has banned health official from releasing death tolls. Gee, I wonder why?
And, the opening isn’t how the anti-maskers want it to be. Malls are demanding masks. Doormen are spraying hands with Purell. Some are taking you temperature. Limiting the number of shoppers in a store at one time. So much for their so called constitutional rights. What about mine?
Some restaurants are opening for dine-in but are mandated to 25% capacity. Can they really make a profit at those levels. It’s take out for me.
Some movie theaters are opening. As Hollywood isn’t releasing new product, all they have is reruns to show. Do you really want to have someone behind you coughing in you popcorn at a movie you can see on pay TV, for less? Send your kids?
The latest polling shows the trend, Trump’s base is shrinking.
PRRI’s poll of battleground states finds, “Trump’s favorability in battleground states has dropped substantially since March, from 53% to 38%.” Non-college-educated voters, who previously were a key part of his base, are falling away. “Trump’s favorability among non-college graduates in battleground states has dropped 20 percentage points between March and April (59% to 39%), putting it more in line with his favorability in 2019 (45%).” In sum, “Large declines are also evident among those living in battleground states (-15 percentage points), those age 65 and over (-14 percentage points), white Americans without a college degree (-12 percentage points), and white women (-9 percentage points).”
Endangered Republicans are keeping their distance from Trump:
Josh Kraushaar: “Here’s what I’m hearing from smart GOP strategists now: Republicans should be talking about their work to help their communities in the wake of the pandemic, and avoid referencing Trump’s role in managing the crisis. To win battleground Senate seats that are looking more tenuous, it will be crucial to maintain support from some Trump-skeptical independents. If Trump’s political condition doesn’t improve by the fall, prepare to talk about keeping the Senate as a check against Democratic power, even if it means acknowledging the presidency is likely lost.”
The Senate ain’t looking so great, either. In many battleground races the Democrat is out raising the Republican. Hello, Mitch.
The Washington Post reports: Trump campaign divided over how to attack Biden amid worries over troubling poll numbers
It seems every time they come up with a strategy, Trump steps on it. In the case of attacking Biden’s mental acuity:
Several political advisers, including White House senior aide Kellyanne Conway, have warned his allies against relentlessly mocking the 77-year-old Biden’s mental acuity because the president has already lost ground with senior citizens, people familiar with the matter said.
Hello, Clorox.
Sure, this election can turn on a dime. But Trump is reaching his own breaking point. The more he sinks in the polls, the more desperate he sounds.
As, CV-19 may not disappear completely by fall. Even, when the economy starts to return it will be slow, with the possibility of flareups. It will be a long time before I go to a mall. My wife has enough purses. What we do need we can get on the internet, with free delivery.
Trump will have his base. Will he have the rest of the country?
