The utter, criminal fumbling of the US government’s (or to be more specific, Donald John Trump’s) response to the coronavirus pandemic reminded me of this 1949 public service cartoon about the importance of having a robust public health service in every community.
The cartoon, directed by Jones and produced by the Warner Bros animation unit might be a little dated in spots (none of Jones’ Looney Tunes sardonic wit here, no unsuspecting coyotes clobbered by runaway boulders) but even so it should be required viewing—especially for Republican governors who want to re-open their states while the virus is still on the upswing.
