Sorry for the rant, I’ll keep it brief, but I’m beyond sick of seeing about 50% of people out in public business spaces not wearing a damn mask! My husband and I just made a grocery store and wine store run in metro-Atlanta, Georgia and the number of people not wearing a mask or bandanna is just stupid.
WTF people?
I stayed in the car, he went in with mask and gloves — and yes, he knows exactly how and when to remove the gloves as to not cross-contaminate the inside of his car or his phone. As I sat in the car in the super busy parking lot, I was getting more and more pissed by the minute. Sure, plenty of white people of every age demographic not wearing a mask but also Black, Latino, and Asian people going in and out of the Kroger NOT wearing a mask. (FYI — Gwinnett County, GA is the most diverse, multi-cultural county in the state.)
This is not just racist, white Republicans making a Trump-loving political statement by defying the mask recommendations. Sure, we have plenty of those MAGA idiots here doing their damage but there were plenty of people across every racial and age demographic NOT WEARING A DAMN MASK!
What the ever-loving hell?
There were multiple people coming out of the grocery store with flowers, clearly to lovingly give to the mother in their life, but what, with a side of COVID-19? Happy freaking Mother’s Day!
The number of parents with a teen or young child in tow and nobody wearing a mask …
The number of older people, in their 60’s or 70’s not wearing a mask …
Then we went to the liquor store for a case of wine (God knows I need it) and the number of people going in with no mask was stupid. But there, even employees weren’t wearing a mask! Employees interacting with customers all day, nobody wearing a mask … mind-blowingly stupid.
It’s madness. It’s beyond stupid. I can’t find the words. I want to shame every one of them!
My husband and I have both had COVID-19 (milder cases back in March, my smell and taste is still not back to normal though we tested negative) and we’re likely immune but we STILL wear our masks and gloves and take every precaution when out in public.
It’s just not that hard to wear a mask or bandanna.
It’s simple, it’s smart and it will protect everyone else around you, those you love and those you don’t even know. It’s such a small ask and such a small sacrifice when medical workers are at so much risk and working their asses off to save people, the innocent and the willfully stupid alike.
Everyone wearing a mask will help businesses open more safely and responsibly. A mask gives a layer of protection to yourself while it prevents your air-droplets from being breathed into the air for others to inhale and stops you from touching your face. And guess what, it helps but it only works if EVERYONE wears one.
So please, please, for the love of everything good in the world, wear a mask in public because you never know if in doing so, you might be saving someone’s life — and for everyone else you are showing that you actually give a damn.

Liberal in a Red State
Thank you so much for getting this on the recd list! It’s really good to know that not everyone has this bad of a situation where they live.
Just an idea for all of us to take action… I just called my local Home Depot in GA and spoke to the manager about my concerns that not all employees were wearing masks. He gave me the weak explanation that because Kemp was only recommending wearing a mask that was all they could do is recommend it. I explained to him that as an essential employer they can at least help protect their employees by requiring them to wear a mask and that will help put pressure on customers to wear a mask. We spoke for awhile and he seemed to listen to me and said that he is going to bring it up on their corporate conference call later today. He took my phone number and said he would call me back tomorrow to let me know how the conversation goes with the Home Depot managers call. Maybe if we all call our local businesses and either praise them for doing a good job or politely ask them to do a better job it might make a difference. Perhaps even better to do it in person when in the store. Just positive reinforcement so the MAGA protesters aren’t the only ones out there making their opinions about masks known. Thanks everyone!
