I’m living on my Cousins horse farm in The Plains, VA now. So there are things that need fixed & I’ve been slowly working on them. One of those things are the gutters. the one on the back of the barn was falling off. there isn’t a fascia board. So I came up with this.
I made them 3/16 of an inch longer each time. when I painted the pieces above it was Jan. to cold to paint them outside so I took them up stairs and painted them in my room !
testing them before I painted them.
Installed
the front of the barn only had a small section in the corner, a tree grew up & crushed it. So we cut the tree down & got the pieces.
these gutters you needed to soldier the ends & drains on.
at the joints of the 10ft pieces I decided to make a u piece to go on the outside of the gutter.
I drilled them & used 10/32 flange head button screws, I tapped the 1” x ¼ galvanized flat bar.
I did this so the screws would not grab the leaves and other stuff that collects in a gutter.
I made a device to form the u’s
there is 2 pieces of ½ round bar going thru the wood.
I was able to repeat the bends fairly easy.
I still have to do something about the drain on this end, I made a temp out of pvc.
when it rained before the water would flood the walk way in front of the stalls, it hasn’t done that so far now. So the cousin is very happy with that.

I’m so lucky to be on this farm with the virus going on, 51 acres and safe with stuff to do! no day is the same, the Cousin & Hubby go shopping on Wednesdays & I go Fridays. Sometimes we will go to a drive up to get stuff, but we stay home !
there are 9 horses, 2 turkeys, 7 chickens, 5 guinea hens, 2 dogs and a cat !
