Earlier today, Juan Carlo mentioned that one of many people who felt manipulated and used by Tara Reade in the past was Kelly Klett, an attorney and longtime advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault who rented out a room to Reade in the spring and summer of 2018. Klett told Politico that when Reade called her in 2019 not long after claiming Biden touched her inappropriately, she didn’t give nearly enough “credible information” for her to touch the case. She suspects Reade was trying to “plant a story” in order to create the appearance of corroboration. Remember, this was before she claimed Biden sexually assaulted her.
Well, Klett went even further in an interview with Spectator’s Michael Tracy. When Reade called Klett not long after claiming Biden touched her in a way that made her feel uncomfortable, Klett’s spidey-senses went off.
As she told Klett over the phone about the non-sexualized version of her allegations — which at the time involved only allegedly inappropriate non-sexual touching by Biden — Klett said she inferred that Reade ‘was planting a story, hoping that I would be someone who would corroborate her. She left me feeling like she’s manipulating me, to drag me into this, to be some corroboration of her story — which I can’t corroborate and don’t believe.’
Klett added: ‘And trust me, I believe women. If I thought for one minute that happened to her, I would come out and support her on it. But she’s a serious manipulator. I think that she exaggerates and lies.’
Remember, this is a veteran attorney who has spent most of her career representing victims and survivors. So it’s pretty safe to say she can sniff out an attempted frame-up.
If Klett was dumbfounded last year, she was “incredulous” when Reade claimed Biden sexually assaulted her. According to Klett, when Reade roomed with her, Reade didn’t even discuss “rape or even discomfort” by Biden, despite knowing Klett’s background. That’s really telling. Reade has said she’s been nervous about speaking out publicly about what Biden supposedly did to her. You’d think that as one domestic violence advocate to another, she’d find a sympathetic ear in Klett.
When Reade accused Biden of sexual assault, Klett was afraid that Reade would use her name somehow to make it look like she supported her, and wanted no part of it. While she was initially skeptical about coming forward, she felt duty-bound to speak up.
Klett is certain that Reade is lying. How certain, you ask?
‘I think the most reprehensible thing to do is to make a false allegation against a man that didn’t occur,’ Klett said. ‘And I have to tell you, I feel like that’s what she’s doing. Because if I felt any other way, I wouldn’t even be talking to you — I would be taking her case.’
That’s staggering. A domestic violence advocate doesn’t make that kind of claim lightly. Add this to the mountain of evidence that Reade is not credible.
