About 6 weeks ago, when a lot of attention was being paid to a frightful in-person election that Republicans had unwisely forced, I thought to myself that how proud I would be when everybody was able to point out how my state had managed to hold an election without a problem at all.
Tonight is that night, and I am disappointed to see that nobody is pointing this out, at least on the news sources I have checked so far. Politico has Biden over Sanders 70 to 19 or so.
I voted for Warren. She was my top choice.
Seriously, voting by mail here is so taken for granted that it just goes unnoticed, even at a time when voting rights and expanding the ability to vote safely and remotely are vital current issues.
I voted nearly 2 weeks ago, at my wife’s urging. I usually wait until closer to the election, but except for a couple of close calls on down-ballot races, my choices would have been the same.
And yet there is no “Gotcha” moment occurring, no “A-HA” point of notice.
We vote here by mail. The Covid-19 crisis had practically no effect whatsoever. We had a god damn primary election and no one fucking noticed.
