Imagine the difference it would have made.
Money going to families to keep them comfortable in their homes instead of businesses handing out bonuses.
Press conferences every day talking about how important it is to keep the disease from spreading — because if we all isolated for just 3 weeks, the disease would be done and untransmissable.
Actual organized resources going towards making a real comprehensive testing and tracing process, where hundreds of times more tests are done, and 99% of outbreaks are caught and immediately limited.
Going back to work with actual confidence, instead of this utterly stupid certainty that the disease is going to bloom.
The difference is the idea that a government can work to at least some small standard of expectations — even if people at large are unpredictable, we have government for very important reasons.
I think we need videos on this subject — on, how even if you look at it as pessimistically as you reasonably can, just a change in the goals of leadership would have made an insane amount of difference.
I wouldn’t mind a what-if video with Hillary Clinton giving her speech to the nation on the plan to end Covid-19 as quickly as possible, with reasonable government actions.
Just looking at what other nations are doing — it’s crazy that we aren’t painting that picture about how crucial actual leadership is, especially in a pandemic like this.
