I have a lot of books on my wish list from favorite authors and series that are not coming out for months which is to be expected so I looked around for some books that are already out. They are expensive…sigh…but I do want to keep the authors and publishers and book sellers in business so I am going to order some from the list. B&N has warned me that it may take longer for the books to get here, though.
Here is what is on my list to choose from…what is on your wish list for the library or bookstore or ebook order?

The Shipmakers have convinced Fergus to finally deal with unfinished business he's been avoiding for half his life: Earth. Fergus hasn’t been back to his homeworld since he was fifteen, when he stole his cousin’s motorcycle and ran away. It was his first theft, and nothing he's stolen since has been anywhere near so easy, or weighed so heavily on his conscience. Many years and many jobs later, Fergus reluctantly agrees that now is the time to return the motorcycle and face his family.

In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place.
Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds, and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own.

Some secrets are better left forgotten...
Daniel is desperate for a fresh start. So when a mysterious figure slides a note under his door offering the position of groundskeeper at an ancient estate, he leaps at the chance, even though it seems too good to be true. Alarm bells start ringing when he arrives at Craven Manor. The abandoned mansion's front door hangs open, and leaves and cobwebs coat the marble foyer. It's clear no one has lived here in a long time...but he has nowhere else to go.
Against his better judgment, he moves into the groundskeeper's cottage tucked away behind the old family crypt. But when a candle flickers to life in the abandoned tower window, Daniel realizes he isn't alone after all. Craven Manor is hiding a terrible secret...
One that threatens to bury him with it.
Machines Like Me
by Ian McEwan
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/machines-like-me-ian-mcewan/1129662496?ean=9780525567035
Set in an uncanny alternative 1982 London—where Britain has lost the Falklands War, Margaret Thatcher battles Tony Benn for power, and Alan Turing achieves a breakthrough in artificial intelligence—Machines Like Me powerfully portrays two lovers who will be tested beyond their understanding. Charlie, drifting through life and dodging full-time employment, is in love with Miranda, a bright student who lives with a terrible secret. When Charlie comes into money, he buys Adam, one of the first generation of synthetic humans.
With Miranda's assistance, he co-designs Adam's personality. The near-perfect human that emerges is beautiful, strong, and smart—and a love triangle soon forms. Ian McEwan's subversive, gripping novel poses fundamental questions: What makes us human—our outward deeds or our inner lives? Could a machine understand the human heart? This provocative and thrilling tale warns against the power to invent things beyond our control.
The Other Bennet Sister
by Janice Hadlow
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-other-bennet-sister-janice-hadlow/1131299408?ean=9781250129413
Mary’s destiny diverges from that of her sisters. It does not involve broad acres or landed gentry. But it does include a man; and, as in all Austen novels, Mary must decide whether he is the truly the one for her. In The Other Bennet Sister, Mary is a fully rounded character—complex, conflicted, and often uncertain; but also vulnerable, supremely sympathetic, and ultimately the protagonist of an uncommonly satisfying debut novel.
Simon the Fiddler
by Paulette Jiles
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/simon-the-fiddler-paulette-jiles/1131082425?ean=9780062966742
Incandescent in its beauty, told in Paulette Jiles’s trademark spare yet lilting style, Simon the Fiddler is a captivating, bittersweet tale of the chances a devoted man will take, and the lengths he will go to fulfill his heart’s yearning.
Redhead by the Side of the Road
by Anne Tyler
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/redhead-by-the-side-of-the-road-anne-tyler/1132394015?ean=9780525658412
Micah Mortimer is a creature of habit. A self-employed tech expert, superintendent of his Baltimore apartment building, cautious to a fault behind the steering wheel, he seems content leading a steady, circumscribed life. But one day his routines are blown apart when his woman friend (he refuses to call anyone in her late thirties a "girlfriend") tells him she's facing eviction, and a teenager shows up at Micah's door claiming to be his son.
These surprises, and the ways they throw Micah's meticulously organized life off-kilter, risk changing him forever. An intimate look into the heart and mind of a man who finds those around him just out of reach, and a funny, joyful, deeply compassionate story about seeing the world through new eyes, Redhead by the Side of the Road is a triumph, filled with Anne Tyler's signature wit and gimlet-eyed observation.

by Judith Flanders
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/a-murder-of-magpies-judith-flanders/1119439481?ean=9781250080943
With this deliciously funny debut novel, acclaimed author Judith Flanders introduces readers to an enormously enjoyable, too-clever-for-her-own-good new amateur sleuth, as well Sam's Goth assistant, her effortlessly glamorous mother, and the handsome Inspector Field. A tremendously entertaining read, this page-turning novel from a bright new crime fiction talent is impossible to put down.

I received a letter from Youffraita that said a car hit her building right next to her room, but she was at work. The kitties are OK, but the electricity is out (or was when she wrote). Until it can be fixed she is using a kerosene lantern to read by and has batteries for her radio...sigh.
From the letter I sent:
Thanks to liz! She will look at a Kindle Fire when her hours get longer at work.
NYT store is open again. Greetings to SS and her mom.
Tara: She misses your wit and enthusiasm. She wishes she could meet us in real life. She thinks you are lucky to work from home as customers are so careless with masks. Waves madly!!
Hugs to Brecht!
MT Spaces: Thanks for the picture!!
She misses everyone here!!
