This story gets stranger as the 3rd precinct police building has burned to the ground in Minneapolis, Minnesota. If police have gotten bolder in resorting to deadly force with suspects in custody, so too has the response in an age of Black Lives Matter. Video recording in the years post-Rodney King, is now simply ubiquitous, and there are at least three for the death of George Floyd.
Now Trump does his tough-guy-in-control thing with the military, even though the National Guard was already in place.
Chances are Trump’s first tweet in the morning will mourn for the precinct building.
Professional law enforcement’s ambivalence in charging anyone resulted in increased tensions that has had a long history in the Twin Cities. One looter is already dead, which seemed more important to Trump.
Justice delayed does become justice denied.
Other pieces of information are emerging — a member of the City Council reported that apparently George Floyd and his killer worked together as bouncers for many years. Was it personal?
...the second night of violence in the wake of the in-custody death of 46-year-old George Floyd, who died after now-former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck to keep him pinned down, even after Floyd appeared to lose consciousness.
There were definitely agents provocateurs present with a variety of motives and ideological affiliations. The situation has spiraled with one looted shot and killed. There are simply criminals exploiting the chaos, with carjackings, looting, and arson. Protesting is increasing with occasional random gun fire. The National Guard is preparing to move in. Was evidence for investigations destroyed in the precinct fire.
