We will get to a synopsis of the night in a minute, but first, let’s update you on the races that have yet to be called. There are a couple doozies in there, for sure.
NM-03 (D): In the battle to replace Rep. Ben Ray Lujan (who is running for the Senate), attorney Teresa Leger Fernandez leads former CIA officer Valerie Plame 33-23, with state Rep. John Sanchez just behind Plame at 20%. About a third of the vote has been counted.
PA-01 (R): This could get interesting. With over half the vote in, incumbent Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick leads Andy Meehan by just a 56-44 margin. This one probably won’t get decided tonight, as Bucks County is one of the counties with an extended deadline to return ballots.
PA-07 (R): There is no AP call, but it looks like in the battle to take on freshman Democratic Rep. Susan Wild, former Lehigh County commissioner Lisa Scheller has earned the narrow win over fellow former commissioner Dean Browning (51.8-48.2).
PA-08 (R): We addressed this one earlier tonight, but it appears that Teddy Daniels, who has a mighty interesting bio, has won the primary here with just 28% of the vote.
PA-10 (D): This one has only been uncalled because a significant portion of the vote is outstanding. That said, it is clear that when all the votes are counted, state auditor general Eugene DePasquale will be the Democratic nominee. He holds a 60-40 lead over Tom Brier, but the remaining vote is in the DePasquale stronghold of York County.
One wild card in the PA counting—many mail-in votes remain to be counted. Of course, this is a circumstance we are seeing nationwide, but with the close margins in many of these races, this could prove decisive here.
