Bob Hamilton advertises himself as a conservative option in the Kansas Republican primary for US Senate. The millionaire who hopes to become the candidate has decided to campaign against Kris Kobach — well known for his dog whistles — by one-upping the efforts. In a series of ads, culminating with his most recent, candidate Bob Hamilton lays out his case as to why he is the most conservative in the race. His newest ad, however, has a phrase that has caught many listeners by surprise:
“The media calls that racist. I call that the truth”
Bob Hamilton’s other ads aren’t much better. At one point, he spends almost a minute describing how big and beautiful his wall will be.
He proclaims “good fences make good neighbors” and cites Kansas wisdom (a bit of plagiarism there), instead of Robert Frost and goes on by changing the meaning of the poem by going on a rant that is so strange that at one minute, he spends most of his time describing the wall in a way that is, well, oddly creepy in a perverse kind of way.
Let the games begin, Kansans. And if you are ready to admit you are racists, we have candidates who want your vote.
Also: do not take medical advice from a plumber as your first choice.
