Let’s test Trump’s sanity. Everywhere there is a Trump residence or property, or a Trump-branded residence or property, let’s petition the authorities to rename the street “Obama Avenue” or “Obama Boulevard.” Please lobby in every lawful way you know how. Get your friends to participate.
Obama deserves the honor. Trump, who has dedicated his miserable presidency to erasing Obama’s accomplishments, deserves the humiliation. Above all, it will make Trump flying-batshit crazy to have an address on Obama Plaza or Barack Obama Avenue. In politics, a bad reaction to justified ridicule counts heavily against the ridiculous target. Count on Trump to look sputteringly ridiculous.
3 Streets in Front of Trump Tower in NYC To Be Renamed Obama Boulevard.
No one is going to rename all of Fifth Avenue, but it is a time-honored practice in New York City to rename streets after famous men and women. Streets in Manhattan are named for Duke Ellington (part of West 106th), Miles Davis ( West 77th between Riverside Drive and West End Ave.), Tito Puente (East 110th), and many others. Why can’t New York City name a section of Fifth Avenue, say between 55th and 58th Streets, “Barack Obama Boulevard”? That would include the block on which Trump Tower sits, plus one block north and one block south. Holy crap, what fun! Now everybody, especially New Yorkers, please start a campaign and publicly petition Mayor De Blasio and City Council.
Street of Trump Int’l Hotel in Wash. DC To Be Renamed Obama Avenue.
Trump's Hotel at the old Post Office Building sits at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, five blocks from the White House. That’s where Trump’s BFFs, the Saudi shieks, stay when they are in town. Why not petition the District’s estimable Mayor, Muriel Bowser, to rename the street Obama Avenue or the three streets surrounding the building Barack Obama Plaza? Mayor Bowser has demonstrated a willingness of late to make such decisions rather decisively and without wasting time. Let’s petition her.
Bedminster NJ and Palm Beach/West Palm Beach, FL
The streets where Mar-a-Lago and Trump’s Bedminster NJ property are located may be a tougher lift, because Palm Beach’s mayor is a Republican and so is Bedminster’s mayor. But it is worth a try because there is a strong Democratic base surrounding both of these municipalities.
Overlooking Palm Beach, towering over the Intercoastal in Democratic West Palm Beach, and clearly visible from Palm Beach, there is a building of luxury condos at 525 South Flagler Avenue called “Trump Plaza” which Trump no longer owns or manages. Why not lobby the authorities to change the name of S. Flagler Avenue, just for a block or two in front of Trump Plaza, to Obama Avenue?
Here Is a Broader List
Here is a broader shopping list of other Trump-branded properties. What’s to lose? What fun if this succeeds!
