I absolutely love Elizabeth Warren. She was my number one from the beginning but unfortunately, a woman at the top of the ticket was not in the cards this election. As soon as it became apparent that either Biden or Sanders was going to win, and then quickly it became Biden, I have advocated on this site and on Twitter for an African American woman as VP. (I won’t get into my favorite VP candidate and why because that isn’t what this post is about.)
I have shared too many times to count, my very deep concerns that as diverse as our party is, in this election cycle, any “all white ticket” would not be well received by our base, particularly the heart, soul and backbone of our party, African Americans.
After over two weeks of the most massive racial justice protests our nation has ever seen, I am asking for Senators Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar, united together, to lead by making a joint announcement that they are withdrawing their names from consideration for Vice President.
For them to speak up now and call on Joe Biden to limit his selection process to the well qualified African American women that are currently in consideration for VP.
Now more than ever, WE ALL MUST AGREE that NOW is the time for a woman African American VP.
There is no other choice if we want to unite our party, heal our nation and defeat Trump.
We must meet the moment to begin to heal wounds and ensure black voices are represented and are heard.
Warren and Klobuchar can lead now and do the right thing by speaking to this watershed moment in racial justice and equality by bowing out to ensure that Biden makes the right choice.
This is the right thing to do in this moment and will garner much unity and support.
