This has been an extraordinarily bad week, for our nation, for me personally, and for my friends.
We all know of the chaos and destruction the loathsome beast squatting in the White House has wrought upon our lands, and how his minions are sowing the seeds to destroy our democracy for generations to come. I have no words to describe the rage and pain I have felt as I’ve watched this unfold, and all I can say is that we must all, without exception, vote for Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and Kamala Devi Harris this fall if we wish to preserve our rights, our country, and our very lives.
For me personally, the awfulness of this week was magnified when I was terminated yesterday from the job I’d held for less than two months. It was not a particularly good fit in many ways, and though I was stunned at the timing I was ultimately relieved to be let go. I have already begun to look for another job, so please wish me luck that I will find something that will use my skills without destroying my soul.
Finally, and most painfully, a dear friend of mine passed to the next life on Thursday. She had seemingly been well until the last two weeks, but when what initially appeared to be a serious but not fatal illness proved to be late-stage cancer, the end came with appalling swiftness. Her daughter is devastated, her friends are stunned, and we all are bereft at the loss of her heart, her wit, and her fierce devotion to those she loved.
Given all this, it’s no surprise that I haven’t had the heart or the time to write a diary this week. Thanks for your understanding.
Be well.
