Greetings and welcome to another of my little fuzzy open thread diaries.
This week I thought I’d toss several photos at you with a selection of places which I’ve visited in the past few weeks and then, if you’d be so kind, perhaps you’d vote in my little user poll and help me decide which places deserve a closer look.
Charles’ Crown is a chateau that I’ve driven past for years and finally stopped by for a tour with Mrs the Werelynx, Fabulous Mother-In-Law, and our friend Chris. Choosing Charles’ Crown in the poll might garner some bonus photos around Kuks Hospital and a Hotel Spa tucked in the woods.
Fields and Frames would be a series of photos taken on a walk in the Czech countryside ending with a visit to a museum of the works of Czech artist J. Anderle.
Rabštejn would encompass a visit to this pretty village and the castle ruins partly hidden in the forested cliffs above it.
Manětín is a quick stop to gaze at impressive chateau and gardens before climbing some scaffolding to get a peek inside a haunted church.
Hartenštejn is a ruined castle which saw one of it’s towers completely rebuilt. We borrowed a set of keys and took a look inside.
Valeč, while the rest of the group went in for a tour, I stayed in the gardens to sketch the statues by Baroque master Matyáš Bernard Braun— until they closed the whole park because of high winds. Gave me more time to take photos of the picturesque little town.
JK Classics American Car Museum is a nice collection of cars, a few trucks and even a yellow school bus. Bound to be some eye candy.
Motorcycle Museum in Pavlíkov, one man’s dream realized. Much more than just motorcycles. And there are a lot of motorcycles. You won’t find Harley Davidson, but I didn’t really miss them.
There and Back Again was today’s adventure. We walked to a neighboring village, took a short train ride and then walked back to where we’ve been staying this week. A walk of about 20 kilometers over some very scenic terrain.
Internet access is somewhat limited here and I’m plumb tuckered out after today’s hike. I’ll stop in again in a few short hours to check on the poll and any comments. In the meantime…
Thanks for stopping by.
