Kossacks:
First, I have an announcement: After giving it much thought, I've decided to go to New Hampshire. Your comments and urgings were very encouraging -- and thanks for those.
Second, I want to ask you a small favor. Last summer, along with a group of other, under-40 progressive writers, journalists and academics, I set in motion the formation of a new web magazine called The Gadflyer.
You already know the managing editor (me) and at least one of other contributing writers -- none other than Mr. Markos Moulitsas Zuniga himself! And we have also recruited some of the top talent writing in today's major magazines, newspapers and blogs, including Sean Aday, Kenny Baer, Mary Lynn F. Jones, Chris Mooney, Amy Sullivan, and Noy Thrupkaew. Our editor, Paul Waldman, is now promoting his latest book, "Fraud: The Strategy Behind the Bush Lies and Why The Media Didn't Tell You."
Anyway, we will launch The Gadflyer -- in its official, full-content form -- on March 15.
The site will include:
- Daily opinion columns;
- In-depth, analytical and investigatory pieces;
- Various featurettes, including interviews with top political people, poll analyses, and a media watch of what the right-wing is saying and doing; and,
- Our "blog."
In an effort to build momentum for the full launch, this weekend we are pre-launching a
Campaign Dispatches page to cover the Democratic primary race. I'll be posting content there, but also here on Kos.
What I ask of you is this:
- Go to www.gadflyer.com. This flash page provides a brief description about The Gadflyer, and a place to sign-up for email alerts.
- Sign up by email. (And reply to the confirmation email you will receive in your inbox. We are not going to inundate you with email, I promise. But once we get going, we'll want to give you more info on the site, so you can just visit whenever you want.)
- Forward this post to your friends who might also enjoy our magazine, and ask them to sign up as well.
- Return to the site any time after Saturday to begin enjoying our coverage and commentary on the Democratic primary at GADFLYER's Campaign Journal during the eight weeks leading up to the full launch.
My sincere thanks, and regards.
Tom Schaller
