***Sorry, folks! It took me a few minutes to realize I couldn’t publish this directly from the WAYWO queue. I don’t know why!***
Hi guys! I am currently parked at the Loves outside Zanesville OH, on my way back from closing out the storage space in Mansfield finally, yay!! One of my projects before heading up was turning what used to be a “tv cabinet” (like, the old, deep style tvs, even though by 2004 they were obsolete...) into useful space.
Welcome to What Are You Working On? where we talk about (and often display) our handiwork, whether yarn and fabric crafts, woodwork, metalwork, art, or anything else “crafty”.

Originally it was just a big gormy cabinet that I threw assorted stuff into, plus the tv and cable dish wires run through there:
Soooo… I have airtight containers for food storage in Wheeliehouse (I don’t like ants!) And the big tall ones are kinda awkward, storage-wise. So I “walled” off the farthest back section to hold four or five of them, with a shorter “wall” in front for a second row of shorter containers/items:
Then, because there’s all that wasted space at the top, plus all those dangly wire still all over the place and lookin’ ugly, I put a shelf in, with a 1” gap at the back to corral all the wires:
Okay, so, why the gap in the front “wall”? Why doesn’t run all the way to the right side? Well, that’s because that’s where my espresso machine goes! (Yes, I am technically homeless and living in my vehicle — with an espresso machine and a coffee grinder. What a horrible version of roughing it! ;p )
Plus my coffee basket goes in front, too, as well as the CD player when it’s not in use — and the basket on the top shelf holds all my teas. Finally, I put a 3” bit of trim board across the bottom to keep everything securely in:
I didn’t tuck the espresso power cord away very well for this pic, and the cords on the right are from the DVD player to the tv. Which, btw, is mounted to the heavy-duty white swivel arm you see on the left.
Much better, yes? And to “close” the cabinet, the tv folds in front to keep everything hidden!
So this past week I was clearing out my old storage space with the (MASSIVE!!!! thank you!!!) help of twingrace and her wonderful offspring, who, being young and fit, I swear hauled a lot more of my stuff than I did! And she did a fabulous job packing everything into Wheeliehouse’s back room.
This was the absolute MUST reason I had to get up there — my mom made me this :-) She is seriously hard-core — every inch of this is hand-stitched:
And here’s A enjoying the view from the top of Wheeliehouse:
Here’s Wheeliehouse with a baby chick grow-out pen (which is now going to be an outdoor ferret playpen) lashed to the top:
And for the heck of it, here’s me being a goober behind the wheel — NOT while actually driving!!
Thank you, TG and A! I absolutely couldn’t have done it without you!!
