This is a “psyop” by the Right! “United we stand/divided we fall”Close ranks, unite and focus. GOTV
Someone yesterday nailed it in a diary on DK when they declared the current whipped-up maelstrom carrying calls for Biden to end his candidacy, as a “psyche-op”.
The right wing henchmen of billionaires attempting to take control of our country did this most notably with Hillary Clinton and started doing it at least as far back with Carter. It’s been successful enough that they’ve worked on perfecting their technique and they’re employing it again to undermine Biden.
Age is about the only thing they have to go on for doing this as the Hunter Biden angle crashed and burned. And the only reason this is being done is because they’re afraid of Biden. To them he is the Grim Reaper of their anticipated harvest.
In Voltaire‘s world, we on the left would stay unified, while we engaged in a civil dialogue of the pros and cons of Biden stepping down at this point in the race. We would do this with the full understanding that it is not our choice, but Biden’s.
Despite the fact that I support Biden 100% and already consider him to be in our Olympia of presidents, I always try to keep my mind open to other views when they are presented in a like-minded way. Although salient points have been made for his stepping down, so far I feel they narrow our chances rather than expand them.
Meanwhile, passions are shuttering ‘storefronts’.
Some have resorted to being derogatory, as mentioned here:

This is inexcusable. If you are convinced of your option, demeaning those who oppose it is self-defeating. If you think your reasoning is better, that elevates your responsibility to keep your emotions and ego in check. Name calling is based in emotions, a luxury we can ill afford.
Part of the liberal agenda is to be tolerant of differences of opinion. Many of us actually welcome debate. But this only works when mixed with civility and open-mindedness.
Collectively, most of us are suffering from political PTSD and are prone to falling prey to cynicism. Our predilection to see the glass as always half empty undermines us. Although we tell ourselves that history backs us up in this negative assessment, that is not true. History can and does go the other way, but, ironically, our fears block this perspective.
The determining factor is human willpower.
Neither pessimism nor optimism provide a balanced view of any given situation — only objectivity does.
Our financial overlords are working overtime to stir up our emotions because they know by turning up the heat, they can split us apart and we’re proving them right. They are playing us for suckers, but we have the option to cool down and take the offense.
Many are disappointed with Biden for the poor optics he presented at the debate. But by allowing the right to manipulate our emotions, we end up exhibiting the worse optics of a party in disarray.
While we wrangle over this ‘age’ issue, it distracts our focus from the elephant in the room.
And in this case, that is literally the Republican elephant, whom we let in by lowering our guard.
I know without a doubt that, age or not, everyone here is going to vote blue, as well as commit to GOTV. While this is essential, we need to expand our focus.
“Divide and conquer.”
Far worse than optics is distraction. Our infighting may be providing them with cover, as it would appear they’ve upped their game and we need to focus on that as well.
According to Joan McCarter’s article of 7/3 “Trump ally threatens to kill 'the left' if it doesn't comply.” www.dailykos.com/...
“…the Heritage Foundation’s president cheered the ruling and told a right-wing audience that the nation is at war, and he’s ready to kill “the left” if they fight back.
“We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be,”
While the scheduling of the reversal of Roe vs Wade has always seemed ill considered to me, I’m left uneasy about the timing of this latest ruling and the Right’s apparent lack of concern that Biden now has ‘unlimited’ power. Together with this declaration of war, I’m deeply worried that other blows are headed our way, and that they will “strike while the iron is hot” — before the election.
We need to close ranks, stay united, steel ourselves and be ready.
Squabbling amongst ourselves undermines our strength, every ounce of which we will be needing for what lays ahead of us.
As Benjamin Franklin said, "we must, indeed, all hang together or assuredly we shall all hang separately.”
