I’m not mad, CNN. Just, disappointed. Oh you sit down, RawStory. I will get to you in just a moment.
What is this, CNN? www.cnn.com/... What is this headline here:
“Pelosi privately told Biden polls show he cannot win and will take down the House; Biden responded with defensiveness.”
Okay let’s look at what you said in the article, CNN.
“Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi privately told President Joe Biden in a recent conversation that polling shows that the president cannot defeat Donald Trump and that Biden could destroy Democrats’ chances of winning the House in November if he continues seeking a second term, according to four sources briefed on the call.”
Four sources briefed on the call. Okay. Wait hang on— They were briefed? What does that mean? Did they not listen to the call themselves?
”This phone call would mark the second known conversation between the California lawmaker and Biden since the president’s disastrous debate on June 27.”
Okay, so you are saying that this is the second conversation between Pelosi and Biden since June 27th. Okay okay. Moving on…
“While the exact date of the conversation was not clear, one source described it as being within the last week. Pelosi and Biden also spoke in early July.”
So neither you, nor your source, know when either conversation took place? Again, “briefed?” Did your sources actually listen to either of these conversations, or did they hear about the conversations from another different source?”
”None of the sources indicated whether Pelosi told Biden in this conversation that she believes the president should drop out of the 2024 race.”
Sorry? But you just said Pelosi told Biden he will lose and with him lose the House? So which is it? Did she tell Biden he is going to lose, or did she tell Biden to drop out? Did Pelosi tell Biden he was going to sink the DNC 2024 campaign but that he should not drop out anyway? Huh? That does not track.
“A Pelosi spokesperson told CNN that the former House speaker has been in California since Friday and she has not spoken to Biden since.”
Has not spoken to Biden? So who is telling the truth, CNN? You, with your four unidentified sources and inconsistent hearsay story, or Pelosi’s spokesperson?
This is after the NYT put words into Pelosi’s mouth, so forgive me, CNN, if I look at your claims with a jaundiced eye: www.dailykos.com/…
You’ll have to forgive me twice for being skeptical, CNN, when you update your article to include this snippet:
“Speaker Pelosi respects the confidentiality of her meetings and conversations with the president of the United States,” a Pelosi spokesperson said. “Sadly, the feeding frenzy from the press based on anonymous sources misrepresents any conversations the speaker may have had with the president.”
So who is telling the truth, CNN? You, with your four unidentified sources and inconsistent story based upon hearsay, or Pelosi’s spokesperson who is trying to professionally call you a liar?
And, RawStory? What’s this?
www.rawstory.com/…
What is that? When you say, “Schumer issued a statement to Raw Story shortly after the story was published. It was, in political terms, a non-denial denial,” what do you mean?
How exactly is saying, “Unless ABC’s source is Senator Chuck Schumer or President Joe Biden the reporting is idle speculation. Leader Schumer conveyed the views of his caucus directly to President Biden on Saturday,” a non-denial denial? That sounds a lot to me like Schumer’s spokesperson called you out and said, “ABC’s source is junk. If it didn’t come from Schumer or Biden’s lips directly, it is bogus.”
And this comes after Schumer was pelted last week with questions about Biden, where his laconic reply was, “I’m with Joe.” www.cbsnews.com/… So what? Did Schumer get in front of cameras to reaffirm support for Biden just to flip on a dime days later, wasting more time and resources as Biden presses ahead with his campaign?
I find that highly unlikely and unconvincing.
Just so everyone can see and hear that I am not making this up, like the media is:
So… Media outlets are quoting each others’ quotations of “anonymous sources,” while simultaneously contradicting themselves within their own articles, drawing conclusions based upon hearsay of hearsay, all while contradicting the official statements of Pelosi and Schumer’s spokespersons of Pelosi and Schumer.
And now the L.A. Times has an article alleging Adam Schiff is now also calling on President Biden to step aside?
The timing of this leaves me skeptical, if unconvinced.
Let’s look straight from the source, Adam Schiff himself. I went to Adam Schiff’s congressional website: schiff.house.gov/… to see if he had released anything. Surely, one would think, if Schiff publicly released a “tell all” to the media that he believes Biden should step aside he would make a note of it in his site. Right?
The most recent press release that is posted on Adam Schiff’s site is “”SCHIFF DEMANDS ANSWERS FROM GOOGLE REGARDING MISLEADING AI OVERVIEW FEATURE,” posted yesterday July 17th. No mention of the congressman calling on Biden to step aside.
What the hell is going on? I place 0 faith in the credibility of these articles that are saying Pelosi and Schumer are calling for Biden to step down. There’s no recordings of them doing so in a press release. I mean, my goodness, this is the only original source I could find for Schumer telling Biden to step down: www.mediaite.com/… Jonathon Karl is the guy every other news outlet has been quoting, and he is not even the person who overheard the conversation between Schumer and Biden. All of those articles about Schumer, and the ones about Hakeem Jeffries, based on ONE guy citing yet another anonymous source.
“Just trust me, bro. I heard it from a friend of a friend’s friend.”
And now ONE news source is just asserting that Schiff has done the same thing — called on Biden to step down, and all other media outlets are only parroting the LA Times? www.latimes.com/...
I do not deny in this one instance Schiff may well have called on Biden to step down in an interview to the LA Times. He could’ve. The heck do I know? I wasn’t in the room. But it doesn’t sound like the LA Times was “in the room where it happened” either.
If Schiff did call on Biden to step down, in this age of misinformation and tabloidism, why has Schiff not made a press release announcement of this statement? It has been about 24 hours — one would expect there to be more than one original source of Schiff’s statement than just the LA Times. One would expect Schiff to have stood behind a lectern or something in front of dozens of reporters to make this announcement? Right??
All of this with Schiff just makes me ask so many questions that just are not answered:
1) When did this announcement actually take place?
2) To whom was this announcement made?
3) Why the hell can’t I find a source for this announcement other than the LA Times or somebody citing the LA Times???
If something this huge dropped, I would not have to be searching for two hours to try to find a video of Schiff saying he wants Biden to drop out.
Indeed, the lack of a press release or video is straight up making me paranoid. “Surely,” I’ve been thinking, “I must have missed something?? Surely there has to be a video or something other than just this text block from the LA Times????”
I do not know about Schiff, nor do I feel comfortable to make any conclusions in either direction because I have not seen Schiff on film denying the LA Times either, but I find it strange and suspect that he called on Biden to step aside when I cannot find any:
1) Postings on his .gov website calling on Biden to “pass the torch”
2) Posts to his official Twitter account calling on Biden to step aside
https://x.com/RepAdamSchiff
3) Posts on his official Facebook page asking Biden to step aside — within the last three days, the only post Schiff has made to his FB page was something about the “International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.” www.facebook.com/...
4) Or videos of Schiff standing in front of reporters in a press release calling on Biden to step aside.
If someone can find something like that, please share. If Schiff has called on Biden to step aside, I really want to see that because the parroting from the media is making me question my own eyes.
They cannot cite named sources.
They cannot keep their stories straight.
They are citing each other as sources when original sources quote hearsay statements from people who were not even present at these “bombshell” conversations.
They contradict the official statements and video recordings from the DNC politicians themselves.
They cherry pick junk polls in a vainglorious effort to sell a narrative www.dailykos.com/….
I think we all need to take 20 steps back with these headlines and triple check their sources.
