"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake,” wise words from the legendary Napoleon Bonaparte that still ring true today. Donald Trump, a known agent of chaos not typically known for keeping his mouth shut (AP News), for once was able to control himself admist the debate fallout last week. As Joe Biden fielded calls from the elite media to step aside, Trump was uncharacteristically quiet. However, it seems he could no longer help himself as he just had to go on Truth Social to declare his supposed disavowal of Project 2025:
“I know nothing about Project 2025,” Trump posted on his social media website. “I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”
In case you still don't know (and I mean this with absolutely no snark), Project 2025 is, as of now, the closest the United States can ever come to being an actual fascist theocracy. It's a collection of the most deranged far-right policies imaginable. To believe it, you need to believe that the left is currently controlling all our major institutions and that the most persecuted demographic in society isn't the poor, the LGBTQ+ community, or immigrants, but corporations and straight white Christian men.
But don't worry folks. If Trump wins and enacts Project 2025's policy goals, it will all be bloodless and peaceful if "the Left allows it to be". This is also true when you're being robbed at gunpoint. Just give the armed robber your money and all will be bloodless and peaceful. See how this game works?
Anyways, as bad as Trump is there's absolutely NOOOOOOOOOOO way he'd be willing to enact Project 2025, right? After all, he just said he knows nothing about it! Yet at the same time, he does actually know about it and what little he knows he is disavowing… huh?
We can't count on the mainstream media, who are so obsessed with appearing unbiased that they've all collectively transformed into Fox News after the debate, to hammer Trump on this basic incoherence in his logic. And honestly, eitherway, we don't need them to. Anyone outside his MAGA cult know he's full of shit like he's always been.
This is the same man who said he knew nothing about David Duke so he can't disavow him (blatantly false)
This is the same man who said he didn't know E. Jean Carroll even though it's cost him $83 million (also false)
This is also the same man who hired his campaign people who have literally appeared in Project 2025 videos.
Who are you gonna believe, your lying eyes or the Supreme Leader?
Right-wing media will of course tell you everything you see is a lie. None of it is true folks! It's all just hit-jobs by Trump hating commies who use this inconvenient tool called "facts" to smear patriotic conservatives who just want the freedom to ban no-fault divorce and abortion at all stages. While they accuse mainstream media outlets like CNN and ABC of campaigning for Biden, they're literally backing Donald Trump in any way they can to ensure president legality be damned. Whatever he says, they will parrot or praise. If he says he'll build the Wall, they'll nod and cheer on how courageous he is. If he says the sky is green, they'll agree and say anyone who says the sky is blue is a Woke Marxist.
However, what I think is often overlooked in liberal circles like the Daily Kos is that the conservative media isn't completely faithful to Trump… just yet. For example, when he got caught dining with certified nutjob Kanye West and far-right white supremacist Nick Fuentes in 2022, there was some pushback. However, what little pushback he got, such as from Steve Bannon, amounted to essentially the kind of warning a mother tells a child after touching a hot stove: (Newsweek)
Bannon, a former Trump strategist, questioned during an episode of his War Room podcast on Saturday why Trump's staff allowed the controversial meeting to take place, describing it as a setup to tarnish Trump's image.
"Did the staff think that this was a good idea?" he asked … "So this was well thought through. This just didn't happen. The staff should know that. The staff should be on top of that. The staff should be doing interventions into this, if that's the case, and make sure this type of thing doesn't happen," Bannon added.
They coddle him as if he were Jesus himself. Then again, with how many conservatives actually believe Trump was sent by God to rid the world of those evil Marxists, maybe that's just a requirement for the sake of business.
It'll be interesting to see how Dear Leader's disavowal of the conservative legal movement's 50 year plot to turn America into a fascist oligarchy will play out on the right. Will they say he got bad advice? Will they say he was set up by his Deep State(tm) staff? Or perhaps will they say it's proof we've been hysterical all along about everything we're seeing in a move typical of gaslighters?
None of that, however, will matter if he loses this November. It's the only way Project 2025 and any similar far-right agenda like Trump's very own Agenda 47 will be stopped for now.
